The Micron full system is now available here in the UK at an amazing price of UK£424.68 + tax, which means that export customers pay approximately US$745 for the full system! Add shipping at US$130 and it still looks like a bargain to me: )
The finished pipe now has polished exit pipes rather than the unpolished ones shown before. The whole system is finished in shot peened stainless steel that will discolour less than the usual brushed finish. Another neat touch is the embossed Micron logo on the header pipe.
I'll post some dyno figures soon but by all accounts they are very good for both the 9 and the 12 models. We will be fitting one of these to our new project XB12X shortly along with some other new parts, so will post pics when it is done.

Kick ; ).

I still need to know if that header can be sold separately and if it will work with a "stock" style pipe.

The header won't fit any other silencer as it is designed as a single piece. You could probably adapt a silencer to fit, but it will only be sold as a system I'm afraid.

I saw one of them in action, here last weekend at the races, BUddy claimed a 6 HP. gain on his race fitted 12...

That is an awesome price!! Can't wait to see the dyno results, this will probably be my new exhaust. Finally a company gave us an affordable full system.

Any chance that you can post a photo of the front mount? I'm interested in the pipe but need to see how they mount the system to the bike. Thanks.

I know of some testing going on within the next few days on the micron system. We'll keep everybody posted with results.

Here are some pics of the pipe dismounted from the bike, showing the front mount system and also the dual header where it enters the silencer, which will explain why it isn't suitable for use with stock type mufflers. There are a further set of brackets that bolt to the ones shown on the side of the can to enable the chin spiler to be attached.
Please note that these pictures are R&D shots of a pre-production pipe.

Here is a pic of the production pipe fitted to an XB12R

Here are the dyno charts for the XB9 and XB12 (Both tested on S models). The bikes tested were otherwise completely stock and we believe that there are good improvements to be made across the range with the use of airbox mods and a well set up TFi unit.

Hey Trojan,
Hmmm, Seems well ok...When I was talking to one of the Race guys here in Nova scotia last week, He had told me that when they dialed down there bikes for the race here ( 91 hp I believe ) and then had just got the Micron and it added another 6 hp had to dial down again... Not sure what he was running before he added the Micron but i`m sure it was something decent,so 6 hp over and above that seems good... But these dynos don`t seem that good for a whole new header and can, or is it just me Days and Confused LoL

Hogs, it's all stock except for the exhaust system.
That looks really good to me.
Open the air box, add a TFI, and some dyno time, and that'd be a real ripper I'm sure.

Glitch , well it was not anywhere near loud what the other guys were using at the races, This guy was nice enough to take the fairings off and let me have a look ( had to do some work on it anyways ) and the he fired it up, Hmmm well I like the Force LOUD and the Micron was loud maybe like the Latus, louder than the first gen. of Drummers as that is all I heard from Drummers so far, Different sound than the D&D for some reason sounds like the Latus on my sons xb9 But it was A hot Day and I was getting Cranky this old fart, sure looks different though etc.etc

So my eyes can`t see the hp increase from stock to Micron what are the numbers on the 12 if ya can see better than me?? :-)

Thanks Hogs, that doesn't sound like it's as loud as it looks. I'm not wanting booming sound, but want to still get some performance, is why I asked.

Looks like a 3 or 4 horsepower boost on the XB12 and a 6 or 7 boost for the XB9.

Trojan, how's the torque curves look, for both bikes?

Blake - I hope you can get one of these for your shootout.

It would be great if you could list weight and cost as data points along with the dyno results.

Looks like it starts lower than stock on both bikes, but I could be like Hogs and my eyes going away...

I haven't seen the torque curves I'm afraid. Bear in mind that these graphs are from a UK dyno which I think presents results in a slightly different format to US ones (DIN vs SAE? I'm sure someone knows a lot more about dynos than me). Normally the UK charts always read lower than the US ones I have seen.
If you look closely at the XB12 graph you'll see that although the peak HP increase is only shown as 3bhp, at 5000rpm it is 5bhp. This is the 'overtaking zone' and will make a very noticeable difference in the seat of the pants dyno room : )
The XB9 graph shows more at the top end, which is to be expected on the short stroke engine.
Given that the price in the UK is about the same as most of the decent aftermarket mufflers alone I am very encouraged by these figures.
We will probably fit this in conjunction with the Axtell 1250 kit and our airbox mods on the XB12X, so it will be very interesting to see what we can get out of it.

Anyway the graphs can be made/posted bigger??? They are a little hard to read because of their size...

How's these?

That's about as big as I can get them within the 25kb size limit.

Trojan - I've been tuning around A/F ratios because that's what my "on the road" system can record. I wonder if you could post the A/F graph for your dyno runs.

id be interested in getting one this winter if i knew i would get more performance out of it than the race can.l

Trojan, I know Micron is famous for their different finishes on their cans, can we expect the same for these systems?

Hi guys,
Jerseyguy - These are the only graphs that I have at present and came from Micron themselves. Once we get a system installed we should be able to supply some more. Just twiddling our thumbs waiting for the new Ulysses to arrive first...ho hum.

Mookie - No contest between this and the race can on it's own. This would win hands down, especially when used in conjunction with further sensible mods. The best increase that we have seen at any rpm with the complete race kit is 3bhp.

Devilbuell - This one will only be available in stainless steel I'm afraid. The 'funny finishes' on Micron's cans have been on their alloy or titanium end cans. These headers have a unique appearance to the finish because of the shot peening process, sort of a matt titanium look. The Micron logo on the rear header is formed during the hydroforming process and the lettering is raised. kinda cool I think..

No impact on performance though, but cool nonetheless : )

Trojan:

I have been following your report here, and am very interested.

I am in Minnesota, and was wondering if you could let me know where I can purchase this pipe around here? Canada or the US is fine, as I travel alot and sometimes Canada is less expensive.

Thanks!

There is a US distributor at www.micronexhaust.com although I am not sure what their pricing is going to be.
If you wanted to order direct from us we can ship to you direct. The price including shipping works out at UK£499.68 or approximately US$875 all in.

Just called the 888 number and spoke to Doug. He said the price would be $1199 w/o shipping.
