OK. You officially suck.  Not only do I love lobster, but it has been way too long since I've had a chance to visit Maine. I can't think of very many places as beautiful. (not to mention, it's the place Stephen King calls home) | ||

I have been on the winning team of the Lobster Mobster in Redondo Beach California a couple of times now. All I can say is float your tank and BC get a 100ft. airline and be willing to tear up a wetsuit....... I can and have gotten the limit for nine people on the boat on a single tank. And yes if I tell you where I will have to kill you....  | ||

Awwww geeez Sky - you dive too? We just hit Redondo yesterday - Sunny had a student for a private scuba lesson so I used the chance to get back in the water - my first time in the water since my high-side in February! Don't know if I'll make opening night or not this season. We usually do a private charter on Ceeray for opening night. | ||

So are the California lobsters like the Florida lobsters all tail and no claws.. By the way Maine just put a 18lb Maine Lobster in a tank at a ocean museum. Glad to see the left coast has lobstermen too. | ||

So Ca has the spiny lobsters (no claws) - pretty much like the Florida lobsters. Our game laws don't allow tickle sticks so you can only take them by hand (after making sure they're not co-habitating in their hole with a moray eel!) (Message edited by slaughter on August 14, 2005) | ||

Nothing like opening night at Fansworth Bank about 10 miles or so on the far side of Catalina. The little cove just west of the Isthmus isn't bad either. | ||

Last weekend also happend to be the MAine Lobster festival so some of us were otherwise occupied. We do have a motorcycle show comming up at the Owls head Transportation Museum Sept 3rd. As much fun looking at the bikes in the parking lot as the older ones inside. Any chance you guys (and who ever else) Might get up this way?? P.S. for those from away the lobster is served year round. | ||

If it makes you feel any better, the price changes a little from summer to winter. They are getting about $6 a pound for them here now (alive, you take 'em away and cook them yourself). I hate it when they get that expensive, I can't bring myself to eat more than a couple of "chicks" (1-1/4 to 1-1/2 pounders) at a time at that price. Jack | ||

I know it's tough but someone has to do it. infact this weekend makes the third in a row that I have been forced  to eat twin lobster fresh from the waters. and melted butter with fresh corn. I don't know how I can take it any longer. | ||

Hey Slaughter Yes I dive also albeit not that frequently these days. Got certified in Key West in 1984. Worked as a divemaster down there for three years. Lobster hunting clue... Leave Redondo Beach after everyone else heads out. We dont need a boat.... My handle should really be Peter Pan.... CAUSE I AM NEVER GONNA GROW UP!! I have such a bad case of Peter Pan syndrome that I am nameing my new hot air balloon "Wendy" (Peter Pans girlfriend for those that may not remember). | ||

Good thing that "Red Tide" stuff is all done with up there in Maine. When we were there in late June, they were importing the Lobsters from Canada. | ||

I tried to take the posts that didn't make it with the picture off, but couldn't do it for some reason. Got to figure that one out again. Actually I am land locked in the Phoenix area and am allergic to shell fish! I bring a couple of Epi-pens with me when I go up to New England. | ||

The red tide quarantines the clams, not the lobsters if they are taken in non-quarantined waters. But Canadian lobsters do get eaten here, simply because they are cheaper. They just had a lobster eating contest up here. the lobsters are peeled for the diners. The 98 pound woman that won (her nickname is The Black Widow) ate 44 lobsters. In 12 minutes. What a waste of good chow! Jack | ||

Gee I was thinking (no it did not hurt) maybe a bunch of bad webers might want to come visit. Go for a ride on some of our great back roads. then we could get some lobsters. off the boat (cheeper that way) and cook them up with corn and the fixens. What a great weekend that would be. | ||

Man, there is nothing I would like better than to ride my bike from the lower-left coast to Maine...But, alas, I have a boss that likes to see my cheerful, smiling (yeah, right) face every morning. | ||

Lightkeeper I will try to get some people together for the Owls Head Museum...its a great meet especially the old bikes. Saw a wankle there a few years back. Also enjoy when they roll out the old tri-plane and fly it with the red baron.. know the times and any other info let me know | ||

Good arrival time is around 10am. If we have some Idea how many buells are coming possibly I can get there early enough to hold a space to park all together. usually there are a couple hundred bikes on display inside the grounds and over 1000 in the parking lot. The meuseum staff parks the bikes in the lower parking area and cars go out back. I think that anyone who arrives with a bike 1984 or older or a rare style/model goes in for display if they want. |
