No not really because the people that I'm looking for opinions from I will value theres and only theres.Its the people that have used them not the ones that haven't.

Hoban Brothers, they do good work, nice guys, race proven, and it would save you a few bucks in shipping

Hals race shop, again good people, but i have never used them, might want to ask Steve S.
As far as parts, Axtell or Revo, thats up to you, i am sure you could ask the guys at hals for advice

AAhhhhh The best thing about working at a dealer is getting good prices and FAT hook ups. Made a few more calls this past week and looks like i maybe having some fun "tweaking" this winter....or i may just not ride for a week while its apart, im like a kid at X-mas i just cant sit still.

Stock was fast, Race kit made it faster, Heads made it even better....now i need MORE!!

Dana,

What exactly are you wanting to achieve performance wise? I'm guessing a street worthy reliable general purpose performance enhancement, something like stage-II headwork with matchingmanifold/throttle-body work the 1250 kit along with some sort of EFI augmentation module?

Are you wanting to perform the installation work yourself or have the shop do it?

Do you want dyno tuning included? I'd say yes.

If you are considering having the performance shop do it, are you wanting to simply drop off the entire bike or are you willing to deliver just the engine?

If it were me, I'd determine what I want to achieve performance wise, put it in writing, and send it to all the reputable performance shops for a quote. If you have a strict budget, be sure to advise what that is too so they can offer as much as possible for your money.

Remember Cycle-Rama too. : )

Well it's like this for some of us, you see there's these two guys who we believe can walk on water and they are partners. Something happens, someone's feet get wet and the partners break up. We all think what a shame, but it's their business and not ours. Some of us deal with one, others deal with the other, regardless don't be mistaken these are two of the most talented H-D / Buell engine guys around and you can not not go wrong ether way. But this is just my $ .02 worth

Call them, talk to them and make your own decision.

My PERSONAL S-2 is with Aaron in Colorado right now. I'm not sure I'll be riding it all that much (I told him 1-2K / year) but it's a fairly significant bike in Buell history. Also told him I was done (I hope I eat these words) with my coast to coast jaunts on the thing.

We're going to do more than it "really" needs to areas like the bottom end and the clutch, but I know it's gonna take it's place next to two other keepers sitting here in my office.

I'd be perfectly comfortable with either Aaron Wilson or Wes Brown working on my personal bikes.

Ron Dickey, is more a supplier I believe. If you can get him to do something for you, it'll be great whatever he does.

Key has more to do with you knowing what you want and planning the project.

If I were you Dana, I would talk to Rob at Hals or Daves has full confidence in Hoban Brothers. Both have have huge race departments and both are WAY closer to you than Cycle-Rama or NRHS.

The 88" in my X-1 puts out 157hp(with poor fuel delivery, now it will be over 160, yeah babee!) and on our site you will see a stock displacement M2 that we did for Aaron Wilson that makes over 120hp. I don't have any charts on our site for the XB's(I am computer ignorant). And of course we designed and machined the first ever, under 1650cc, pushrod, BUELL engine to go over 200MPH for TEAM ELVES (also owned by Aaron Wilson)

I bought my x1 used and badly out of tune. With less than 4,000 miles on the NHRS XB stage 3 heads. The front valve seal allows oil to blow buy on on decel revs. I don't blame NHRS or the previous owner-- becuase I don't know if it was a bad product or becuase the other owner rode the bike so out of tune.

I'd trust NHRS the same as any of the other awesome engine builders. For me I'd choose the shop that was close to me.

Don't sell yourself short, that 1,640cc Cycle-Rama engine was the first ever under 2,000cc pushrod engine to propel a non-streamlined bike to a 200+ mph world record.

Thanks for the response from all the sponsors and BadWebers.I'm approaching this with some thought of how I ride my bike and where I want the power delivered.The 12 to what I've learned just in the last couple days is that the 12 is a very good bike as is and to make big power is not just the case of throwing a big bore kit,cams and headwork on to make it work right.Cause it won't.I want a reliable turn key bike that is pushing 100-105RWHP and making better power everywhere else.This winter that will happen thanks to this forum.Blake thanks for the chat.Gotta talk to you again though.LOL
