So I am gonna be the proud papa of a Buell. I have a question for everyone. 2006 is the year of several upgrades for the XB platform. I think these are major improvements to an already great bike. I have an '04 Sportster which, for those that don't know, was the first year for the rubber mounted engine along with other upgrades (bigger rear tire, new swingarm, etc) I have had some troubles with some of these "improvements"

My question is this:
Does anyone think that these changes for the '06 Buell lineup will have any manufacturing / quality issues? would it be better to hold off and wait to see what the first batch of new Buellers say or just bite the bullit now.

I will admit I would like to be the first in my city to have the XB12Ss, and if I order in the next few weeks I am guaranteed of being the first cause no one up here (edmonton canada) knows about the amazing machines named Buell

Its an "old wifes tale" that you should never buy the first model year of a new vehicle so that they can work the "kinks" out. I say NOT SO on the XB line. The 2006 models are just improving on the already great XB line. Every year the Buells get better than the previous years.

Buell is good at taking care of any problems that would be dangerous, like the wheel bearing and kickstand replacements. My 03 is a great bike without any of the 04, 05, 06 upgrades. That being said, what you may get is to pay a higher price than later years. Those of us that bought the 03 XB9's paid a premium in price as the price drop later on really hurt. However, we were the ones having fun on the bikes before everyone else too, so that kind of works itself out as well. I say, if you like the 06 get it ASAP. I bought my 03 9r as quickly as I could, and never looked back.

Might be a true statement for most items. However from from 98-99 I think it was a loss from simple carb to fancy fuel injection. But each year Buell does fix or improve items. I'd say the XB is proven.

But at least if you buy new you get a warranty. However that warranty is only as good as the tech in your area. F&*cking dealership in my area doesn't even balance a tire correctly!!! So if you was to have any problems what are the chances of finding a good tech in your area? thats the real question.

I have an 03 XB9S. After 13,000 miles its been bulletproof. IMO there is no need to wait.

I would only agree, sometimes...not always the case but have seen it on cars and trucks in the past few years, with the old wives tale on completely new models, like when the xb came out (not that there were any major problems, but you just never know). On the '06 models, I would say that all they are is improvements to an already great machine. Go for it, be the first on the block with an '06.
