I need to take my XB9R into the garage for an MOT test so need to revert to stock exhaust, I am running race kit at the moment. I bought a stock can and ECU off ebay a few weeks back, is it just a straight bolt on and plug in stock ECU or will I need the dealer to reset anything? I was guessing as the can and stock are already set up to work together it will be a straight swap over and ride?

Even with the factory race ECM, yes, you will need to rest the TPS(throttle position sensor)...most usually only charge .5 hours labor..

Just replace the muffler, no real need to replace the ECM for an inspection.

Not sure exactly what an MOT test is, but I think he's concerned about exhaust emissions.

If that is the case, I'd leave the existing pipe on and just swap the ECM. Yeah, gotta do the TPS reset though.

Well as it turns out I think the race can was probably fitted with a stock ecm and no adjustment. With the race can it ran over ok but I got a lot of backfires on deceleration, just as a test I swopped the can out and she runs over sweet as a nut! So certainly I'd better get the fueling and TPS sorted when I put the race pipe back on, thanks all for the advice anyway
