The promo suggests that they lengthened the wheelbase on the SS to provide more room for rider and passenger. I'm wondering if that's all the designers had in mind. It appears that they have altered the steering geometry too as well as lengthening the swing arm. I wonder what effect this will have on handling. | ||

I always felt that the 52" wheelbase on my xb9s gave me a handling advantage over other sportbikes...especially on really tight, technical, twisty roads. | ||

I don't get it. They lengthen the swing arm and alter the steering geometry, which will make the bike a bit more stable, and a bit slower turning. Good for touring. How this effects the rider and passenger comfort is hard to see as the seat seems to be the same as the XB12S. I think they should have used the seat from the Ulysses. | ||

Jon, The whole tail section, including the seat is longer than the standard XB12S, due to the space made available by moving the rear tire back with the longer swingarm. | ||

My only discomfort on the xb##s is not being able to stretch my legs out, no changes there. | ||

Short of a cruiser with highway pegs, there will be no leg stretching on any machine. What I like about the Buell ergonomics is that I can simply stand on the pegs for a brief leg stretching exercise. Other bikes with the pegs more forward make that exercise very risky. | ||

I'd like to think the bags and fairing from the Ulysses would fit on the 12Ss. Might make a nice ride. M | ||

I too am struggling very hard between the two models....gonna be my first Buell and I just can't decide which one will be better for me. I ride mainly in city, but do take 3 or 4 trips to the mountains (1000kms or so) every summer..I am leaning towards the long..... Demos this Saturday here CAN'T WAIT | ||

I'm pretty excited about the SS, I have been holding back on the XB series because the package is too compact for my 6'3" 265lb frame. I am hoping the SS cures this problem. I would be interested to know if there are any bigger guys who ride the XB and what they think about it. | ||

I hope all of you who get to test ride the SS will post your impressions. Get your wife or GF to sit on the back & compare the two variants if you can. | ||

To go along with Patrickh, but on the other side of the coin...I am 5'7 with pretty short legs (31" inseam) and yes I realize the irony of the question I am about to ask: Is the XBSs going to be too big for me LOL | ||

Well demo rides are this Saturday for me here..I would be happy to post my findings. Keep in mind the only reference points I will have though are a few '05 demo rides |
