Hi, this is my first post on the board. I have a '03 lightning and havent done any of the service upgrades done to the later years. I know about the belt but what are the other improvements that have been made?

Wheel bearings. They should be the orange ones. If you have the black ones get them replaced.

Maybe the sidestand but I'm thinking that was only the 03 Firebolts. I'm not really sure so you might want to look into that.

On edit: Not really a service upgrade but one of the best things you can do is replace your inner airbox cover with an XB12 inner airbox cover.

Sidestand on the '03 Bolts - look for an "R" stamped on the top of the foot.

Get the '04 mirrors - longer stalks. Reasonably priced.
