Greetings all 'round!

Normally, I eschew extended warranties, but I did purchase one on the ToadKing because the bike was soooo expensive and the warranty is factory backed. I have not seen evidence of a similar warranty at the Buell site and am curious if there is such an item and what it costs.

The ToadKing was a MAJOR purchase for me, and should I buy a Buell it will be a large enough (monthly!) cash out lay that I will want to ensure I am covered against any problems down the road. The other bike that I am really considering is the Ducati MultiStrada 620, and so far it seems there is no factory backed extended warranty available.

I am not asking if such a warranty is needed, as I am looking for peace of mind on any new bike purchase. Even if I were to purchase a WeeStrom, I would most likely look in to an extended warranty from Suzuki.

What say you lads, is there such a thing available from HD/Buell?

Thank you!

El Toado Verde

yes there is, and yes they do.
My original 7 year on the M2 was 1200 bucks, and never used it all, but it was nice to know it was there until I was familiar with the maintenance of these machines, like I am now.

Thay are a great piece of mind, and you get 2 years/unlimited (?) mileage for free, any more then that will cost you!!

Yes, you can add up to 5 additional years for a total of 7 years, unlimited miles of warranty.

I wonder if I could add that before my 2 years runs out, but I think I needed to have done that at the time of purchase.

I hate to correct, but the "extended warranty" that you hear of is technically an extended service plan. The big difference is that you pay a $50.00 deductible for all approved repairs for each visit to an authorized service department. That is approved repairs, not things like the finish on my wheels is fading, i.e. cosmetic stuff. An extended service plan is the same as an insurance policy to protect you in the event of mechanical failure. You can get a brochure from any Buell dealer to get the skinny on what is or is not covered, and you can make an educated purchase from there. My thinking is any new model that is unveiled could benefit from an ESP, regardless of the amount of R&D the factory puts into it. And I believe you have 90 days from date of purchase to add the ESP if you want without penalty, but Daves has a better knowledge base on that.

You can buy the ESP(extended service plan as Odin says)anytime before your original warranty is up.
If you wait past 90 days from purchase it will cost you an extra 150.00.
There is a 50.00 deductible and yes it doesn't cover appearance and some other stuff, just stuff that might break.
Still good piece of mind.

If you buy the extended warranty at the time of purchase the warranty begins then, which means your 4 yr ESP is really only a 2 yr ESP.That is my understanding of it after reading my paperwork,I could be wrong though.
