I need to replace the front brake pads on 12R. Is this an easy thing to do? If so, can someone tell me how it's done? It looks pretty easy, but I have not done this on a bike...
Thanks

1. There is a pin in the center outside of the caliper. Loosen it, but don't remove it.
2. Rotate the wheel so the caliper is between two of the rotor mounting bolts.
3. Remove the lower caliper bolt.
4. Loosen, but do not remove the upper caliper mounting bolt.
5. Remove the pin you loosened in step 1.
6. Rotate the caliper CC/W to access the outer pad.
7. Remove outer pad.
8. Remove the inner pad from the left side by pulling rearward and rotating pad 90 degrees and pulling through the wheel opening.

Installation is the reverse of removal. And don't forget your Loc-tite for the caliper bolts. All this is going on the foregone conclusion that you have inspected the pads and they do, in fact, need to be replaced. Minimum thickness is 1.0MM, or if the wear grooves are no longer visible.
Oh yeah and get a service manual, Bro. It's a must for the Buell owner who doesn't want to pay Harley prices for labor.
Hope this helps.

Mark
