Anyone know how to adjust the clutch foot lever on an XB9?

I'd start by adjusting the clutch itself (pretty easy), and then adjusting the lever to the right free play (also pretty easy, just like the brake levers on a bicycle).

I'm confused though... A clutch "foot" lever?

For clutch adjustment you would remove the clutch cover (the one with three screws) and turn the adjustment screw in until it seats, then back it out the distance that's stated in the manual (I THINK it's 1/4 or 1/2 turn but don't quote me). Before you do this, you'll need to push the clutch cable adjustment boot (the long black one in front of the engine) up out of the way and loosen that. This will cause a good deal of slack in the clutch lever.

Once you get done adjusting the clutch itself, put the cover back on (and you may as well adjust the primary chain tension while your down there) and then adjust the clutch cable and tighten down the locknut. Then, adjust the lever to where the manual says it should be (I think it's 1/8" or 1/4" free play at the ferule?). Your clutch should now have about 75% of it's usefulness in about 3/4" of lever travel. Be careful the first few times you use it : ).

Hope that helps.

Also, to be sure about all of those numbers... Get a manual. They are worth their weight in gold or more : ).

Are you talking about raising or lowering the lever so that your toe fits under it better?

Look at the vertical sleeve to the left of the pivot of the foot actuator. There is a threaded bolt that goes into it at top and bottom, secured with a locking nut. Loosen the nuts at each end and you can then twist the sleeve left or right to raise or lower. Be sure to re-tighten the locking nuts...

Gotcha : ). Well, you should have a decent idea of what it takes to adjust the clutch and clutch lever now : ).

Don't forget to rotate the brake and clutch lever assemblies on the handlebars appropriate for you. I'm shorter than average and found that the positions they were in, I'm figuring for a taller person, were too far down/forward. It had me feeling like I was going to have the clutch lever slip out of my fingers too easily - that's a clutch I don't wanna dump! Rotated it back up around towards me a hair & feels great.
