I'd like to lower about another inch, whats the best way to do this? I'd like to have the same height as the cg. Would a straight suspension swap from one make sense? Perhaps I should just trade up. | ||

I'm not really sure, but I think that the CityX front forks are larger in diameter than the CG. Someone will chime in for sure on that. The rear shock assembly should swap out. | ||

The CG seat will lower the rider height, but it's really not that comfortable. Any other Buell seat will lower the rider height compared to the CityX seat. | ||

The reason I got a cg is so I could use any seat, even a cityX seat if so desired & still be able to flat foot it. The forks on a CityX are 43mm. The forks on a cg are 41mm. To swap the forks, I think you'd have to swap the lower triple clamp. Not sure about the top one but I'd be willing to guess that it'd have to swapped as well. I may not have the answer but at least this got bumped for a better chance at a good answer.  *Paging Daves, please pick up the white courtesy telephone. Yeah, swapping forks and stuff does sound like an expensive proposition, but I wonder if it would be about the same to move up to a cg? Metalstorm, have you ridden the CityX? What are your impressions on the SX vs cg? | ||

The front forks on your City X are the 43mm ones. The XB9SL and the XB12SCG use the 41mm fork. I can have the forks "worked" for you, it will lower it about an inch. Put on a SCG or 9SL rear shock and you're good to go. | ||

Yep, needs lower tripple clamp too. Runs roughly $1000 (just rough estimate for the parts) front forks, tripple, and rear shock. | ||

If it is just 1 inch just get a different seat and leave your suspension components alone The CityX has more of a Dirtbike seat and it alone adds to the height of your sitting position. Someone is looking to trade an older 9s seat for a CityX seat and that would solve your issue. Other options are the Corbin gunfighter seat, just ask them to narrow it a little, Buell Streetfighter seat and of course my favorite the Eurofighter seat from Trojan | ||

Sorry.. should've mentioned this sooner. I already have the cg seat and a custom corbin seat. Also sold the CityX seat... I'm 5ft. 2in... I can handle the bike but just want to get it more comfortable at stops and be able to back it up with out getting off the bike and pushing it. ginzero aka "shortie" .. lol.. | ||

"Metalstorm, have you ridden the CityX? What are your impressions on the SX vs cg?" I havn't ridden an SX, only an 03 9S. I like my cg cause I like having good footing in parking lots & such. The torque is very nice but unless you ride two up a lot, a race kitted 9 is just as nice in my opinion. The 9 is a lot smoother at lower rpms than the 12, at least the one I rode was. If I did a lot of in town riding I probably would have gotten the SX over the cg. It looks like Daves came up with the solution for ya after all.  | ||

Gino, Will trade you my XB9S Low forks, triple clamps, rear shock, and sidestand. I've already traded the bike's Low seat for the CityX. Also purchased regular length 41mm forks - not yet installed, will resell if I swap to the 43mm. I'm in Oregon, so shipping's not so bad. Mark | ||

Gino, "Prudent" might be more appropriate than "prissy", and I resemble that remark! Same philosophy here. BTW, my front end parts are very "semi-new", with <900 miles. Seems we have several choices for front end ride height changes: (1) swap 41mm fork tube assemblies (for bikes equipped with same); (2) swap 41 & 43mm fork tubes, along with at least the lower triple tree (someone somewhere posted that the upper triple is identical throughout the XB*S product line, though I'm not so sure); (3) swap the entire front end - fork assemblies, full triple trees; (4) modify in the fork internals (spring changes and other) - see Dave's archived posts for a list of required parts. Others with more experience and/or access to part numbers info: correct me please. I'm guessing the simplest swap from CityX to cg configurations would entail *removing front wheel, *detaching brake caliper, *unbolting front casting with instruments & ignition lock, *detaching handlebar from top triple, *supporting handlebar + instrument nacelle with all lines and wiring remaining attached, *unbolting triple tree with forks in place, *swapping in the new triple + forks, *connecting/installing everything again. Note that the front fender is identical, at least for my black XBS and the CityX and could stay in place. I've probably missed something here... I've already purchased "semi-new" full height 41mm forks assemblies for my conversion, which will require only wheel/caliper/fender removal for the swap. My Low pieces will then be sold as a package for other 41mm fork folks interested in a Low configuration. | ||

My wife has a City Cross XB9SX with lower corbin seat and added height to her boots. Would like to get info on lowering another inch or more. It sounds like a solution is available. Fred P |
