also looks like a kit (handy with hacksaw and file)

ya gets what ya pay for, generally -- just be sure you're comparing apples and, well, you know

Yeah...I know it isn't the same product. I haven't ever seen either in person.

But $80 vs $370 is certainly worth a look.

You're paying for the bracket, not the replacement tail section. You'd still have to saw off the grater and file it to fit. Still, if you're handy, it looks like a good bracket.

I'm thinking 30 cents for some screws is even better. Since you already have to do the hacksaw and file, just screw the lisc. plate to the undertail. Personally, I'll wait until I have the cash to get a replacement tail section, then maybe try the hacksaw and see how it turns out and go from there if I screw it up. Just my .02

I have the one from American Sport Bike and it is a very well machined and the color match is spot on. I feel like I got my moneys worth.

We supply a number of different tail tidies for the XBS models, but the most popular is this item from RRC. It comes in cast aluminium powder coated to match the original (grey, gold or black). It has LED rear light and comes with licence plate bracket and Kellerman micro turn signals. Fit and finish is as good or better than the OE item: )
Price to the US would be around US$380 plus shipping.

It is also available with a more traditional 'bulb' type rear light at around US$335.

You certainly do get what you pay for....; )

I really like the one you've got Trojan.

70 bucks for a bracket? Might as well get one made by a local machine shop.

We have a cheese grater eliminator/license plate relocator brackets at darkhorsemoto.com for only $39.95 plus $5.00 shipping. Yes, you will have to cut the cheese grater off, but once you make that first cut, it's not so bad.

The picture in my profile is probably better than the one on the web site.

Skully

That looks pretty good. I may be giving y'all a call.

In the pic I see a lip at the bottom of the bracket that goes parallel to the ground. What is that for? And is there any reason why it is off set below the bike a couple inches? I was just wonder if there was some practicle reson for those design elements.

WHOAH! Are you guys kidding me? Hacksaw= $10 and you're done. Buell designed the cheese grater to be cut off. The line is obvious. Mount the plate to the existing screws underneath the seat. If you read this post please send me $50 and you'll still be $20 ahead of the game. Gotta tell you guys, it seems like Buell riders like to throw their money in the toilet. Sheesh!
