The seat on my xb9s seems to have a lot of play in it. I've taken it off and reattached it several times to make sure all the necessary points are locking together, but it still moves quite a bit. I can sit on it and push back a little and it moves half an inch or more. How much play should there be in the seat? I would think none, but I can't see anywhere where it isn't connecting properly. | ||

Whoa, I just read more carefully, mine does not move 1/2". The rear lock should prevent forward and rearward motion. It may not be latching. Mine just moves up and down a bit. | ||

The front part of mine moves the way you're talking about, but the rear doesn't. Side to side mostly. | ||

My "stock" seat doesn't move at all. However, my Buell Streetfighter seat moves a little, but not at the rear. It has a little play at the front. | ||

My Steetfighter seems real loose at the front if I don't get the toolbag in the right place. | ||

I too have the same experience with the Street fighter seat. It gets loose in the front after a day of riding. This appears to be a design flaw. | ||

Mine does not move at all. Not a millimeter. It is a Streetfighter seat, but the stock XB9S seat was the same. (Message edited by gentleman_jon on July 18, 2005) | ||

Stock seat (city-x) is rock solid. But yeah, my streetfighter seat moves side to side in the front. I notice it when i'm hanging off the inside. Its pretty annoying, but I've gotten used to it. Seems like a design flaw. I plan to build up the inside with some high density foam and glue one of these days (project #839). | ||

Mine is the standard seat. The Corbin doesn't move at all, but I can't stand it so I'm back to the stock seat. I measured the gap with a flexible ruler and the seat moves just shy of half an inch (more like one cm). The rear latch catches fine and the two "hooks" about mid-way back look to be going on fine, but it just isn't fitting right somehow. My toolkit isn't under the seat, though. Maybe I should put it back and see if that helps. | ||

I was reading the manual to see if I was missing something. It says to pull up on the front of the seat once you install it to make sure it is secure. Well, I tugged of the front of the seat and it gave more than an inch straight away from the bike without very much force at all. I think the previous owner f-ed up the seat and sprung for the Corbin instead of another stock seat. The Corbin sucks...you can't move at all! It cups your butt and there's no moving forward and back or side to side. That's okay for riding in a straight line, but stinks for twisties or if you've been on it for a couple hours and need to shift your weight. | ||
