 I'm not sure when I next can take a week off to ride out and back - I'd sure love to! You're welcome to visit me here in RI and test it though. On a regular height XB9R I barely could touch the tips of my toes on the ground; now I can balance the bike on the pads of my feet (provided the ground is even). Daytona Ladystar boots are helping a little as well. | ||

Hi Dave, uh, about 2,200 - almost no time to ride these past weeks. Been really busy at work, studying for my MBA and also moved two weeks ago; I'm a zombie these days.  Hopefully I'll have more time towards the end of the summer! | ||

So last night I had a real and bonified idea. I have those now and then. But I'm ashamed I did not think of this one sooner. 2 x 4's - they're actually an inch and a half thick. I laid a piece on each side of the bike last night so's I could stand on the bike and get a feel for what another inch or so difference in height would pick up for me. It was substantial. It was good. Now I have as concern and a wonderment. The wonder - Daves, did you also replace the kickstand on her 9R? I'm thinkin that taking an inch to an inch and a half off would not allow the bike to lean over / into the kickstand properly enough anymore... The concern - reduced clearance muffler to ground. What is the no load clearance on your 9R now Claudia? From ground to the lowest point under your muffler with the bike held straight up and no one sitting on it. Dave, or anyone who can answer, what is the no load clearance, ground to muffler, on regular 12SLow? I'd like to know how they compare - Factory low 12S vs. 9R with treatments. Thanks. A lot. | ||

The lowered suspension is a whole 8 tenths of an inch shorter. I havn't experienced anything negative on my CG. I have yet to bump the muffler on a speed bump. Pushing the bike around in parking lots & such is a breeze. Maybe you should try standing on some 3/4" or 1" thick boards as they'll be closer to what you'll gain in reach. | ||
