Hey, just wanted to see if anyone has or has seen what these CRG Roll-A-Click clutch and brake levers are like. Supposedly they match the amber wheels of the bolts. Just wondering if anyone has pics...??? Thanks

I don't have pics, but I do have the clutch lever. It matches nicely IMO.

The red adjustment lever has faded a little since I got it and is a slightly more washed out red now. The gold has not faded at all.

I have the silver ones on my white XB9R. I love them! They are shaped and further adjust to fit my hand perfectly. I get a lot of comments on them.

I Cover the Brake and Clutch with two fingers the remaining hands and fingers on the clip-ons. The lever themselves are shorter than stock and work great for this

So are the shorter ones better than the longer? I'm sure its a preference thing, but how much shorter are the shorter ones? The short ones sound cool if it only takes a few fingers...

Here's the pic I took after painting the magnesium fairing mount...

I love the levers, even if they are outrageously expensive :-)

I have the short ones and I love them. With Icon TiMax gloves three fingers is about right. Lighter gloves is a two finger deal. Match the gold rims REALLY close.

I just bought some of the shortys from American Sport Bike...hopefully they are waiting for me when I get home from this business trip in The Netherlands.

I ran across a guy who had them on his XB9R in the Bay Area (don't think he was a badwebber at the time although I told him about it) and LOVED the feel. The fact that they are adjustable really allows you to set them to the most comfortable position.

Along with the Woodcraft rear sets the bike is very comfortable...now I am considering the Heli Bars to complete the package.

The CRG levers are great, especially the clutch lever. I had my doubts about them when I first got the biz, no more. They work.

The Buell/HD clutch pack needs the full travel of the lever in order to fully disengage the clutch, i.e., it can't hit the grip before the full amount of travel has occurred if you want to fully separate the clutch pack. But if the clutch isn't fully disengaged, the only real impacts are that neutral can be very hard to find stopped at traffic lights, and the initial drop into gear can be a little bit clunky. However, once moving, full disengagement isn't really needed at all for normal up and down shifting. Half clutch shifting works fine and has no negative effects. It is only when stopped that full disengagement is required.

The ease of being able to change the lever position on the fly is why the CRG clutch lever is so cool. When you are about town, you sweep your finger across the red lever and adjust the lever so that it is in the furthest out position, facilitating full clutch disengagement. But once out there on the road, or in the twisties, you sweep your finger across the red lever and adjust it so that it is much closer to the grip. In this position, your clutch action is being accomplished with the strong part of your fingers/hand, not the weak finger tips. This results in a huge decrease in forearm pump, especially in the twisties where you shift a lot.

Do this: Hold your right index finger out in front of you, pointing left. Hook your left finger tips over your finger at the first (furthest out) knuckle, and pull (like on a lever) HARD. Feel the tendons that tense up in your wrist and forearm. Now do the same thing, except do it with your second finger knuckle. You'll still feel tendons pulling in your wrist and forearm, but they are different. They are stronger. Well, they will be if you're not a free climber : ) If you're on a twisty road up shifting a lot, the difference in how much your forearm aches with the lever out far vs in close is pretty significant.

They are a bit pricey, but I tell you, I can't figure out how they sell them so CHEAP! Every piece is billet, and there are a lot of pieces. I routinely have to switch levers out here when I'm out of stock on one color/length but OK on others, and the assembly of the mechanism takes more than a couple minutes each. Between the billet and machining costs, and the assembly costs, I think the price they ask is more than fair. If they were just bling, maybe not. But they work well and look great doing it.

The short ones are as in Dave's picture. The long ones have a breakaway notch at about the same location as the ball end on the short one, so that if you biff, you'll likely still have a lever to shift with.

Note: the brake side rockers are different for tube frame vs XB, always confirm you have a 521 for a tube frame, a 531 for an XB, or some nasty brake lockup may be in your future.

Great description Al. I never thought of alternating the distance depending on my ride. I'll have to give it a shot - once I replace my clutch cable.

You can see the breakaway notch in my pics. I opted for the longer levers with the notch after I dumped it last fall and had no front brake. I could still ride it home with the rear brake. I'd hate to have no clutch lever and try to ride it home...
