I'm thinking about using smoked tint-spray on the transparent blue air box cover and windscreen. Has anyone worked tint-sprays before? Any suggestions.. comments? "Hero Blue" transparent air box cover and windscreen along with "Villain" black wheels. Hmm.. would much prefer a villain look all around. | ||

The tint spray I used on my Firebolt windscreen did not turn out too well, I cleaned a prepped but still got "fish eye". I would do a test spot and clean it really good!!! Grease and Wax remover should help prevent the "fish eye" but I dont know if it will cloud the finish. Now if you just want black then paint it. | ||

It is hard to see but I painted the flames with a light coat of flat black and then spray tinted the rest, I had to use a flashlight to show the effect tho'.  | ||

I want to keep the translucent.. but smoked black instead of blue. New12R, what tint spray did you use? What color is the smoked part? Looks like the yellow/orange is from the flashlight? Daves.. if I screw up the tint I will probably go all solid black... | ||

Ginzero, You might want to try Rit Dye. I have'nt tried it on the cityX stuff, but it works well on the regular buell surlyn body pieces. Who knows if it will work on the cityx. Try at your own risk. | ||

I have lost the can but I bought it at a hobby shop where you get radio controlled and model cars. It is a spray on window tint, small cans only, I will check the shop Tues. and get the part# for you. The amber is tinted with the tint above, it gives it a much darker appearance, your blue would probably look black until light hit it. (Message edited by new12r on July 11, 2005) | ||

New12r.. if its for RC cars it might be "Testors".. I was going to try using that but if you had mixed results then I think I'll try something else... CptPlanet.. Rit Dye.. thanks.. I'll look at that one.. I also found something called VHT Spray Tint.. seems to be used for automotive applications. | ||

I think the only good way to get it transparent black, is to paint it with a candy black (transparent black)from the outside. For this you have to clean carefully with a degreaser, use an adhesion promoter like Dupont 222, spray a good quality candy black and finish it with 3 or 4 coats of clear. Water sand and buff, it will look like a brand new, transparent black finish and will have the same quality of your car paint. Better see a professional painter for that  | ||

Well.. looks like the new XB9s have a "kick ash" color option .. seems like the air box cover has the dark smoked tint I'm lookin 4.. Wonder if Daves can get these parts already.. hmmmm  |
