Waiting for the big Buell announcement, as I'm sure many of you are...If this means what I think it means, I have a Blast and an XB9S to trade! Yes Eric, I want to own all the corners! Even the dirt ones!

That's what it looks like. You think is will be an all new bike or an xb with more travel and dirt tires? Even though I'm not in the market I hope it's an all new bike.

Erik...put the v-rod motor on a new frame (sport-tourer)

The V-Rod is already a sport tourer... A little more on the tour side I suppose.

BTW, there's already a thread on this...

More like a supermoto. The City-X would be in between the road-only XB's and the new bike (Dirty-X? Country-X?) The supermoto/dual-purpose bikes are really popular.

If it is an XB with more suspension travel, that rules it out for me...my XB9 is about as tall as I could be comfortable with.

Other than that...my favorite rides are single-lane, crumbling asphalt backroads. An SM bike would be good for that.

Oh dear God here we go again. I learned not to criticize a bike last year when the City X came out and even I said it was fugly. Now I own one. Go figure.

Gee, Cat. I hope that doesn't mean I've doomed myself to owning that new BMW dirt bike. That thing is Ugly.

I think we are getting our own version of BMW's R1200GS. What's next a side car?

My guess would be something closer to the Ducati Multi-Strada. Whatever category you might put that one in. The real question is, will there be a new motor.

"Our own R1200GS..." Actually, that's kind of a cool idea.

Give me a decent windscreen, seat I can handle for a full tank of gas, optional heated grips with PWM controller, an optional heated seat, and optional hard bags. I'd even accept another couple of inches of seat height.

Exhaust still underneath, tho? Hmm...

Yeah... I think this video was released early (not typically Buell style right?) to both get us thinking AND to get us thinking in the wrong direction...

I don't doubt at this point that there will be a DP bike, but I still think they'll update the XB engine this year with at LEAST the dual throat setup and different heads... Maybe even 1350CC and a stroke length somewhere in between the nine and twelve...

Yup, smaller is what I was thinking, more along the lines of a SM with the blast motor.....hopefully something like Suzuki's DRZ 400SM. Should be interesting either way.

I'd bet it's the XB1200GS.

An Ubercruiser would step on VRod toes.

I don't care if it's taller. I don't care if it's a dual-sport. I don't care if it's a sport-tourer. As long as it is as reliable as the Buell I have now it will be a winner.

The line I heard from "he who's name should not be known" is that its NOT an XB class bike, its a BLast based bike, 600 cc, longer suspension, dirt style front fender and an XBR style tail...

its what the Blast line has been begging for since 2000....

That would be pretty cool. Not to mention functional. Let's face it, the XB is a great bike for the street, but it would lay down too much torque on the dirt. It would be all but uncontrollable in the hands of the average rider.

So, if the Blast turns into an "enduro", then maybe the XB line will expand into XB12T and XB9T sport-tourers!

Do you think the new bike will be a replacement for the Blast? Or an addition to the existing lineup?

It would have to be an addition to the existing lineup. Blasts were intended as universal first bikes, and there is no way anybody (read: women) under 5'5" would be able to handle something with a 34" seat height.

It makes me wonder if maybe the Blast is going to get a makeover too....

I'm hoping that if y'all are right that it will be an addition to the existing lineup. The XBs & Blasts as they are now are awesome. I'd hate to see them be discontinued. I think it'd be better to expand the stable rather than subtract from it. A small on/off road Buell would be extremely enticing. It's too bad I got bike payments for 57 more months.
