Removing the snorkel doesn't make really a difference.Mines still in and its less airbox noise.

Correct... But he essentially has a "race kit" with a different pipe. The instructions for installing a race kit indicate that it should/could be pulled out.

Besides... I didn't say anything about it making any difference ; ). I just asked.

When I pulled mine... The ECM most certainly needed to adjust. I went out and tromped on it for a while to get a feel for it, then held it at ~3200 RPM's to allow the AFV to adjust and it got a tad smoother.

That's all I know. I've got no back to back dyno's to prove anything.

I think it sounds a little cooler though...

It's the rubber boot going down thru the frame into the left side scoop. I left mine in and drilled some holes in the airbox lid. I know that helped cause I accidentally rode the bike with a rag stuffed in the scoop and didn't even notice.

yes i took the snorkel out, would not have known but i read about it in some of the many post with great information on this site. when i called my dealer service department the service manager had no idea what a tps was or that buell even sold the race ecm. talked to guy who sold me my bike when i was there he had no idea that buell even sold the race kit. also seen a used 03 firebolt that someone traded in with a chain kit on it.
