I've put my hand on everything I can think of near the front of the bike and haven't found what's rattling... I suppose it could be somewhere else but with a helmet on it's a little difficult to tell.

Any ideas? Anyone else ever have a rattle at that RPM and figured it out?

I poked and prodded all over the place and didn't find anything out of the ordinary...

It's an "R".

I had a similar noise and found it to be the metal wire holder for the clutch cable. it keeps the clutch cable from touching the header. Mine had snapped and part of it was bouncing around. the torx screw which holds it was loose....hope that helps

See if the "logo" plate riveted to the right side of the engine is loose. Mine is and it rattles, I just haven't gotten around to fixing it.

Mine does that with a weird chirping noise now. I'm pretty sure its the wind screen. I'll let you know after I tighten the screws tomorrow.

xbolt- I had the same problem with the windscreen. I have a 12r and changed the screen to a s/t zero gravity. I noticed that the fit was nice however, the fairing where the screen meets at the edges were chaffing causing that buzzing sound. If you look at the stock screen it is actually a little thicker plastic and has a bead running along the top which stiffens it out unlike the aftermarket where it doesn't have that bead running along the top. The cure- I bought some clear plastic contacts(like for cabinets when you close them to keep them from smashing wood on wood)and slipped two under each lip at the end of the screen where it met with the fairing. No more buzz and I definetly heard the same sound wearing an arai signet helmet while riding. good luck!

On my S3 it turned out to be the front brake rotor rattling against the buttons because the little springy "wave washers" between the rotor and the carrier had fatigued over time. The test is simple. When it's rattling lighly apply the front brake. If it quits rattling, you've found the cause.

Check your header bolts. Mine were loose and the rattle went away.
