I recently had the pleasure of doing a little corporate training at the facility that manufactures the factory pistons for Buell and H-D, among many other big name companies. I have to say they have an amazing facility and are a great group of people. The company is Karl Schmidt Unisia and the plant that I visited is in Marinette, WI. I'd have to say that after witnessing their attention to detail all the way down to metalurgical properties of specific aluminum blends on up to moly coating of the pistons, we shouldn't be having any bike failures on the piston front.
