OK, I've had this problem for a while, not a big one, but here goes: I took my bike in for a TPS reset, and the dealer did it, no problem. Got the bike back, but the idle was set just a tad too high (after revving, it floated around 2000-2500 rpms for a while on it's way back down to idle). So, rather than bringing it back into the dealer, I decided to wait for it to get to operating temp, and turn back the idle just a tad. I'm now idling around 1000-1050 rpm's when at operating temp, as it should be. My issue is this: When I start the bike cold, it idles around 900 rpms, and once warmed up, it idles higher. Do I need to set the idle again when it's cold, or is there something else going on here? As always, any help is appreciated. | ||

Sounds like you have it set right now. the "tech" must have set the idle while it was still cold rather than wait for it to warm up. You did good. Just remember to let it warm up a little before you rev it or take off and you should be doing fine. Brian | ||

Hell, the tech set mine so low that when cold it idled at 700 rpm. He said he set it on the computer to the 1050. I just warmed the bike up and set it so the tach would idle around 1050-1100. When cold it idles at about 900-1000. No biggie. | ||

Very cool. Thanks guys, it just seemed a little backwards. Every other vehicle I've owned idles higher until it's warmed up, then the idle drops to the standard speed. | ||
