Okay I have been following all the threads about both units. But I am still confused as to which will work the best. I have a 05 XB9SX & future plans would be a Drummer pipe & K&N filter. My other question is does anyone make a header that is better than the stock pipes? I know about the Force system but is there just a header? Also am I reading everything right about exhaust mufflers. From everything I have read the Drummer is the best bet for my XB9. I like the look of the D&D but don't want to lose my bottom end.

Race ECM. No tuning, no problems.

The only pipe I've found so far that requires a reduction of fuel anywhere was the Force muffler. Putting other pipes on the Force header has eliminated that issue, so it indeed does seem to be the Force "muffler" that is the problem and not the header. You can get that header from Force by itself, but they certainly aren't nice about it (or anything for that matter...).

You can't remove fuel with the TFI, you can with the PC... If you plan on running the Force "Muffler" w/o serious engine mods then the PC would be the way to go (exactly what I've done). If you plan on running something other than the Force "muffler" with either the stock or Force header, I think the TFI is capable of adjusting the curve to what you will need...

WRT the pipes...

I don't think you really lose much anywhere with the D&D (Actually, I think you pretty much gain everywhere...).

Compared the the Drummer... From what I've seen... As it looks... It seems to me... I could be wrong...

The Drummer gives you just what the D&D does, but more of it. I think that with both pipes you lose nothing anywhere, but as I recall, the Drummer doesn't have any dips at all compared to the one small one at about ?3300? RPMs in the D&D. I think that the D&D makes just a TAD more in the last 700RPM and the Drummer makes a bit more everywhere but the last 700 RPM... Especially on a 9. They seem very close in performance to me.

I like the sound of the Drummer better, especially the sound of the gurgle when shifting.

My Force pipe though is VERY VERY VERY loud compared to either of them and I like the sound of that one quite a bit as well. I just can't stand the lack of low end power compared to other solutions I've tried... It would work on the track I think, but I don't think that the power gain up top is worth the murdelization of the low end grunt on the street. Either the Drummer or D&D may be better on the track anyway due to the fact that they both make good power in the upper rev ranges, I just haven't tested them all out on the track yet (and I doubt that I'll test the D&D).

Of course, all of the subtleties of a power curve are highly dependent upon the subtleties of your tune...

Race ECM, unless you like pioneering and fiddling with knobs 'n maps.

On a NINE, The difference between a Drummer and a D&D is huge. I know, I have a Drummer and I have ridden an XB9 with a D&D and same/similar mods as I have on my bike.

All the fun I have down low on mine is gone until 5000 with the D&D. And even at 5000 til redline there's a noticable difference. I've said it before and I'll say it again, on a NINE, the D&D has no advantage over a Drummer, except for looks or sound. And that's not just my biased opinion as you can see on this sheet ...

Does the Race ECM dial a Drummer in right? Or do you still have some adjusting that would help? I thought that was the issue with the Race ECM? So Just put a Drummer,Race ECM, & K&N filter on it and be done?

The race ecm adjusts automatically and it works flawlessly in that config you mentioned.

That's what I had before I bought a TFI.

The only reason I got the TFI is that I liked to play with it.

I've done a great deal of testing around A/F ratios and I proved (to myself at least) that the TFI is unnecessary with the Race ECM and a Drummer.

I neglected to answer your actual question .... the race ecm alone works better than the stock ecm plus a TFI on a 9 with a Drummer.

Cool guys thanks for all the answers. Now I have one more question???? What is the deal with the no engine brake with a stock ECM? I just read that is the other Power Commander thread.

Again thanks for all the info. So I'll just save my pennies & get the Drummer & race ECM when I can. Buying a house in the next month so my mad money is going to be short for a while. Plus I have a Jeep that is feeling neglected.
