Brax: I live in Deltona, just southwest of Daytona. And I hear it all about the sun. I havent seen it in weeks. I got soaked on the way to work this week, but it was worth it just to get to ride!

Sounds like the weather may prevent me from going South this year. :-( There are other destinations if I have to change my route. I want to make Key West though!

i was down in florida for bike week in march. after bike week, i put 650 miles on my bike from daytona to orlando to yeehaw junction to vero beach to miami to naples to sarasota to lakeland to kissimmee. was hot, but the XB (2004 XB9SL) ran fine the whole time. i wanted to make it down to key west but that would have turned by trip into a riding exercise and not a fun trip, so i axed key west and rode 200+ miles each day. i made the key west drive last year in a mustang convertible that i rented and it is visually stunning - i'd definitely recommend it!

have fun in florida!

Don't let the weather stop you. You'll be fine. A little rain never hurt anyone: )

Sounds like a good ride Buellgirlie.

Daveinm, rain never hurt anyone but my mother, she was in that movie... Wizard of Oz or something like that. Rain is fine, I bet a hurricane would turn me around. :-P

Yeah...I definitely don't recommend riding in a hurricane: )

I don't recommend going to the keys with a hurricane on the way either. I was down there once when they evacuated all non-residents. Sat in traffic for 9 hours on the way home.

All this talk about riding in FL. Remember, there is a BRAG ride leaving Lakeland HD/Buell this Sat. (2nd) at 8:30. Get in your riding before theafternoon heat/showers arrive.

Also, anyone wanting to ride to Key West should consider the Ride to the Sun/Poker Run/etc. which takes place the 3rd weekend in Sept. (this year 16-18th). ~10,000 bikes, Duval St. closed to cars, not so hot weather, etc. Check Peterson's Miami HD site for info.

Wish I could make the BRAG ride but the local HOG chapter here is having a breakfast ride and I can't pass up free food.
