seems to be on all the time, except when on a little run (like 2 mins) .. is this normal .. at first i liked it, now i wonder abt it. i guess cutting it out of the wiring will just overhaet rear jug & shorten engine life?!  | ||

Do not cut the fan circuit out. How many miles on the bike? If it is still new or breaking in they tend to run quite a bit. If not, check the temperature sensor that triggers the fan. | ||

Nooooooooo, do not disable the fan. Try switching to synthetic oil and trans fluid. That helped a bit for my 9SX. After that I would order the right side air scoop. Those who've bought it seem satisfied. I'm still waiting on mine but will write up about it once I get it. (Florida's humidity out to make a good test.) | ||

Mine ran constantly, even before the temperatures got warm...the cylinder head temp sensor was faulty and was replaced. The fan still runs allot, but it IS 90 plus degrees these days and terrain I ride in is pretty hilly. | ||

Where do you get those right side air scoops? How much are they? I took that right side plastic cover off to let more air in that way for now... | ||

I concur with the advice above. Quality syn in engine and trans, air scoop from Trojan products. Problem solved. DO NOT DISCONNECT THAT FAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Good luck. | ||

my fan runs a lot too, only had syn in it for about 600mi then had to get 1K service so i'm hoping going back to Mobil 1 will cool things down. can't wait to dump the Harley stuff, i really dont like the feel of my bike with it in there. primary mainly. haven't had an air-cooled bike in ages (first was a CR80 Elsinore! man, that little thing was LOUD), so i'm a little nervous. fan will run even when its cool out and i'm traveling at normal speed. i kinda crack the throttle a lot though, mmm, torque!  | ||

115 in the shade here in PHX yesterday! My commute is about 30 min. ea. way. My cityXs fan does exactly what it was designed to do. No need for the right side scoop here...motorcycle cops I know (and who ride all day long in this inferno) have sworn to me that air cooled bikes are the best here. They were riding Kawis for years and recently upgraded to the Beemers. My point here is don't stress out if the fan comes on, it's supposed to. | ||

i looked real close at the stock right side "scoop" and could not see how it could possibly aid the air flow the either front or rear cylinder. just dont see how it could be effective. maybe it is there for sound (noise) control?? anyone have a cylinder temperature indicator and wants to do a test with and without the right side scoop? | ||

That ride side stock scoop would make a good fan to use on yourself at stop lights. You know, waving it to keep you cool. That's about all it's good for that I can see. | ||

I could be wrong, but I think the idea is to direct air coming in (when the fan is on) across the heads where cooling is most needed, and not let the air come in between the frame and rear cylinder, the path of least resistance. I hope someone "in the know" can clarify this. anyone? anyone? | ||
