I'm in need of some assistance. I've bolted almost everything up with my R to S conversion but not sure where to mount the rear brake resevoir? As well as some of the other misc wires that mounted to the frame. There's other mounting brackets in there that were used for the S's computer, can I use them for anything? I would appreciate anything, pics or verbal. Thanks ahead of time in case I forget. Max.

I'm confused. Which way are you going?

S to R or R to S?

I've done an S to R and had to "fab" a brake reservoir out of the S battery bracket.

Sorry for the dumb question.

The reservoir for the S is different than that of the R. And if memory serves, it mounts to the right-side frame rail. It may use a small bracket to do so (which I'll still have if there is one).

It mounts to the right hand subframe rail, down in the area closest to the shock. There should be a tapped hole that a t27 torx bolt fits in. (like the battery ground on the left side rail)
Let me know if you want to get rid of some R parts, I am doing an S-R conversion ; )

Hey Qball, can you tell me which wiring connections you have left over and I can take a look and take digitals of where you can attach them.

Wyckedflesh,
The photo looks great and the workmanship looks excellent. I just dont like the look to me it looks like the rear end is missing something.
That rear looks great on the S but on the R it looks plain ridiculous.

Just my opinion and i guess buell also agrees.

And I can't ride for any length of time on the R tail without much pain. Its all good, people don't understand Buells either but it hasn't stopped me from owning 3 of them now...yes, I do in fact own 3 Buells at the moment, of course they are in pieces being put back together and 1 is missing an engine, but good things come to those who wait.

Wickedflesh, Everything that was previously on the left side (while sitting on the bike) was run through the space/ cut out area (battery cables light wires etc). Where do I mount the rear brake resevoir? There are some wires that cross over from right to left. I want to make sure they are safe out of the way of the suspension. I went by my local Buell dealer to look at a Lightening but they had none. Any pics would be great. Suggestion are welcomed too. Thanks.

Max, if you look on the inside edge of the right side seat frame spar there is a threaded hole towards the front. When you get the parts that i sent you there will be a bolt already in the hole. Its almot right above the right rider peg.

best I could do for you Qball, unfortunately I can not get a good camera view of the rear brake resevoir, but it is basically straight up the frame from the mastercylinder where as Stainless said a threaded hole resides. retty much right behind where the warning sticker resides next to the right of the shock spring in the picture.

we just did a complete front and rear r to s and s to r conversion yesterday using a xb9r and a xb12s

extras to make work besides the obvious; had to swap main wiring harnesses, clutch cables, front brake lines and rear brake reservoirs

no rewiring of anything was done, it was all plug and play once the harnesses were swaped

wasnt to bad two bikes in about 6hours

so now we know you can have any front or rear or both that you want if you are willing to do what ever it takes to get it
