Fogal..they are talking about bellypans not the stock Buell spoiler deal.

Entirely different piece of plastic.

Asinine argument anyways.

I guess it depends on what the consumer wants but if you can't fit the chin spoiler to the new drummer and thus you have to ride around without the spoiler . For me i could care less about how pretty the muffler looks it wont look as good as a bike with a chin fairing on it.

Thats just my opinion but thats one less customer i guess.

Not asinine if its the stock fairing, can Kds1 confirm that the stock fairing will fit, if it will then it will be an asinine argument.

BTW i agree with BadS1, norris does not do any help for the drummer with his antics.

The subject was not the stock fairing... It was a belly pan. They are different things.

Actually I believe the topic was about how the pipe looked good and wasn't going to have the mounts for the chin fairing. Personally why would you want more fairings on a naked bike anyway?

Blake - Thank you.

I'm going to try to explain the manufacturing status more clearly.

The parts to mount a chin spoiler are designed. If someone wants to retain the chin spoiler for aesthetic or some other reason, then they can do so.

We opted not to make them at first because of the following reasons. Cost, weight and the we think the muffler looks good enough not to hide behind the stock chin fairing.

There is no technical controversy at this time, only personalities.

I agree with jerseyguy. If you wont to run chin fairing order with brackets they are available or if you like the bling get with out. No problem.By the way never met Kevin just know he makes a good pipe.

Let me see the original question was, when will the new drummer be done.

It seems to me bads1 has a real problem with drummers. why don't you just stay off the drummer threads because you are really not getting anywhere. Norris has be very quiet and respectful during this thread, why don't do the same.

Oh and yes I have a Drummer
Oh and yes I did have a D&D

To answer the original question more specifically:

Kevin told me yesterday that next week he will send me the very first new Drummer for the 9 for my evaluation. When I get it I'll post a few pictures. Then I will put it on and see how it feels. Next I will re-attach my A/F testing system to the bike and do some test runs to see how it compares to the original Drummer. I'll tell you all what happens. It will be a few weeks.

I told Kevin yesterday that it has to at least equal the performance of the original Drummer or I won't run it. I'm a real pain in the that way. I like the original Drummer so much that I hate to take it off. The first thing I'm going to do is the following (cut & pasted from another thread I wrote):

"I was messing around in the parking lot before work this morning pulling wheelies. If crawl my 9 along at 2000 rpm, level off & punch it I get a 6" wheelie (never touching the clutch). If I take it to 2500 & punch it I get maybe 18".
Anything over that & I have to pay attention to what I'm doing. My point is that the Drummer really fills in that bottom end. TomZ saw me inadvertently pull one of these at bike night a couple of weeks ago. Slow speed wheelies aren't going to win anything on the track, but they sure are fun."

If the new one doesn't equal this low end torque and post similar A/F Ratios through out the full RPM range then it's back to the drawing board.

Kevin is finishing the first new 12 muffler this week - the 9 & 12 are different internally. He has a XB12 that he will test himself. This should also take a couple of weeks.

I'm trying to maintain some decorum in this thread but it's becoming increasingly difficult.

DevilBuell - That's a fair question, but Kevin hasn't told me exactly what it's going to be just yet and I don't want to speak out of turn. Now that he's finished one, he has to add up the material cost and figure out how much time it will take to make them in multiples. I still have to see for myself how well it works and looks too so I can put my 2 cents in.

We aren't just taking a semi standard muffler design and adding pipe bends and brackets to make it fit a Buell. Every piece is an original custom design thought up by Kevin for Buell XBs and only Buell XBs. I'm just here to help the master make it fit and get it made. It all takes time o get it just right.

a related question... the SS has a bling (cant believe i said bling!) factor, so the chin fairing mounts have been left off for now.
Does American Sport Bike make chrome oil filter covers? I thought I saw those somewhere.

Dana, I just want it to be as good or better than the original.

Ted, I have to believe that somebody makes that, at least for a Sportster. I'm using an Amsoil filter which is white. Although it has no bling value, I like to be different so it works for me.

As for bling value on the new Drummer, that's pretty subjective. I see it like a nice bright aluminum mag wheel on a truck as opposed to a chrome spinner on some RAP star's whip.

What started out as a nice informative interesting thread has devolved into a nattering naysaying juvenile pile of crap.

Grow up children! : | Your behavior here is unacceptable. Consider that a warning for all of you natterers.
