Yo XB Dudes! I am from the Old School board (ya know, X1's SW1's etc) and we have a crossover question. We prefer your XB rocker covers on our FI and carb motors for the improved PCV system. Our system pukes oil into the air cleaner ick! On our bikes a lot of us use the accessory fan kit and it has a thermal switch that mounts on the old school rocker cover. Can anyone tell us where the thermal switch is located/mounted that turns on the cooling fan on your type bikes? Part numbers and pictures would be best, we are old and none of us care to part with $70 from our social security checks to buy a service manual to help figure out how to keep our fans running. I appreciate your help and will pass the valuable knowledge to my brethren. Wishing you keep at least one wheel down, the only bike that passes you will be ours....Den

The fan is controlled by the ECM which, among other things, looks at the temp sensor mounted in the rear cylinder head.

... and I don't think it's a thermal switch. Seems to me to be a thermocouple or possibly an RTD.

Yo Izzy, Yes we have the head mounted thermocouple but when we add the accessory fan kit there is a switch that mounts on the rocker cover to turn the fan on and off. Your XB bikes use the ECM to control the fan and this is a more efficient method, fewer parts and fully integrated into the control system. So I guess we will improvise. Thanks for your help...Den
