What is hp output of a stock xb9 at the rear wheel. I would love to believe that the buell website is correct but that number seems VERY optimistic. Anyone have some real data? |

It SEEMS optimistic because that measurement was taken at the crank. A general rule of thumb is to subtract 20% from the crank number to account for drivetrain loss (this is generalized). If I remember correctly, buell.com shows 92 hp. My redneck math indicates 73.6 hp. Real data was published in Motorcyclist a few times. Here it is off of a cycledyn dynamometer. XB9R 78.2 hp @7250 rpm----61.8 lb.-ft @5500 Xb12R 92.2 hp @6750 rpm----71.9 lb.-ft @5750 |

I had my bike tuned on the dyno and I'll get some results tomorrow. I really don't care about peak numbers; just want to compare. |

15% is closer to the losses from crank to rear wheel on these bikes, which is why you see 78 from 92. Of course, dynos do vary, so it's important to do a range of different motorcycles on the dyno, or get a number of different dynos to run on your bike so build a reference for the dyno you are going to use. |

Check the KV. Here's an XB de-snorkeled w/TFI and a Drummer.(scroll to the bottom of page) Made about 78 ponies on a DJ150 http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/3842/3615.html?1118599407 (Message edited by craigster on June 13, 2005) |

Anonymous, Again that 'figure' was only a generalization. |

Well, I got my bike back and am very happy with it. throttle response is tight, power is smooth and even and it just damn flies! I suspected I was lean, but not that lean. I ended up at 79HP and 72TQ
