I bought a set of the XB Lightning dual headlights to put on my 'tuber. I noticed a small light socket between the two lights built into the housing. It's wired, but no bulb. What is this? Can I put a bulb in it and have a 'daytime running light'? Thanx.

It's for the Euro boys... Some sort of anti-police-evasion law or something...

You know they are trying to ban pointy knives over there now yes?

M1 is right. it's for the euro models run/park light feature. you can put a bulb in there, a 194, i think, automotive bulb that you can get anywhere (except an HD or Buell dealer). it'll be on anytime the bike's running or when you go all the way counter-clockwise when locking the steering head and removing the key.

i counted 10 S models on the floor at Downtown HD, only one had a bulb and half of them didn't have the socket mounted. kinda weird. i put the bulb in so the bike has some sort of front marker light when parked and locked.

Thanks for the verification guys. I think I will probably put a bulb in it. But it won't work on that head-lock feature because it will be on my '98 S3 once I rebuild it. That will give me just enough of a daytime running light I think.

Somewhere on this board I posted a listing of the Harley bulb part numbers with wattages and colors that will fit that socket.

it is what is called a parking light. in many countries in Europe parking lights are required by law with parking on the curb or side of the street.
