Yea I know should have left the STD pipe on and I could lift the front no problem. But I needed more volume so I changed to the Jardine.
I now want to lift the front wheel to check my steering head bearings as i still have a shimmy at 100. Have adjusted the suspension for me and set it as i like to ride but its still there.
So any tips on the best way to lift the front to do this would a great help.

Hang it...

I would remove the right and left side scoops and run a ratchet strap under the frame and behind the two mounts for the front bracket (the one that the oil cooler and stuff is mounted to). Run another ratchet strap through that one above the fuel cap so that when you tighten the strap it won't try to rotate the bike.

I generally hang mine from an 8X4" beam on my friends porch... I've found pics of people using ladders and other assorted devices as well... Be safe : ).

just slip the jardine off and stick a couple 2x6 or a 6x6 piece of wood under the engine case with a floor jack...worked for me.

I currently have the EZ rizer from www.bikelift.com and have been using it for a few years for my Springer and love it! They have a "multi-mount" adapter for the Buells if you need to remove a wheel or front end components and can't use the wheel adapters. But even with the multi-mount, you have to remove the exhaust can first. I dunno if I'm going to order that multi-mount yet or not. I know that it makes life a lot easier when working on or cleaning the Springer. I'm HOPING that I won't be working on or having to clean the XB as much...

Thanks for your thoughts.I may give the can off and jack on some big bits of wood a go after having a good look to make sure i feel happy with it.

Yep, those Pitbulls work great, but not to check your steering head or take the triples off.

I think pulling the can is the best way. The bike is going to be more stable than with the stock can anyway.

I have the same dilemma.

well I can tell you that for wheel removal and basic and not so basic maintenance the Pitbulls are the way to go .....

Go to Dave to get the stands .... he really does have the best price for them .. believe me .. spent an afternoon pricing around .....

I used the rachet strap method as well and it worked fine suspending it from my garage door tracking. I placed a small jackstand under the engine just to stabilize the swinging. Just make sure your anchors are solid and can support the weight and you will be fine.
