Want a smaller bike for my commute. I am now riding an Ultra. Keeping it for touring and to keep wife happy. My commute is 40 miles daily on country roads in New Mexico, normal cruise at about 80, all corners are taken on the Ultra at 65, very mild turns. I just am tired of pushing a 850 lb bike on a 15 minute trip each way. I am thinking of a CityX, please give me your thoughts. Thank you Bagger  | ||

I don't own one but I demoed one back in March. I really liked the ergos, the 9 engine shakes less than the 12 at idle (a worthwhile consideration if you're stuck in traffic very often), and it's light and quick-steering. I think a CityX would be ideal for your commute. BTW, according to posts here it will get about 55 MPG if you don't push it too hard. | ||

I am extremely happy with mine. It will be perfect for those country roads and turns. There will be no need to even slow down for those turns anymore. I ride mine 15 miles each way to work most of the week. Most everyone else that I have seen on BadWeB is happy with their's as well. | ||

I also live here in NM and am VERY HAPPY with my XB9. It's very nice on the back roads and after 3000RPM, it just disappears under you. | ||

I like my Xb9 for commuting, but I really like my Blast too. The Blast is better on gas and it just seems to zip in and around cages like nobody's business. On the other hand the XB9 does all that too, just faster. The Blast does have more seat space to strap stuff though. But then that's why I have two. Sometimes when I wake up the mood is full on Hooligan... | ||

I am just about to break 1000 miles on my CityX. Ive been commuting to work on it as much as possible and love how I can go all week and then some on $6 of gas. The riding position is extemely comfortable, but underneath that, it is a beast that straightens any curve that comes its way | ||

I think you'd be very happy with the CityX. Quick, nimble & good gas mileage And she's a real head turner to boot  | ||

i agree with all i just did my 1 k service in mine (xb9-sx) although a little late (a techs bike is always the worst maintained) LOL i live in washington and ride 20 mi. each way in i 405 and its kinda like rideing in canyons trying to find the fastest way in and out of all the STOPED trafic all i can say is its much better than my softail or sportster... its lighter than both, and even with the buell motor conversion on the sportster (with bigger cams of course) and way too much motor work on the softail to list here its quicker than both witch i need i say do it Izzinya  (Message edited by izzinya on June 10, 2005) | ||

It is 15 miles from home to work...or work to home. whichever. I use my 9R as my daily driver and fill my tank Sunday night for the work week and Friday night for the weekend. Light, agile, great on gas. I say go with an XB9 of any variant. | ||

You might miss the storage capacity of the Ultra. Otherwise, the Buell is a fun commuter. | ||

Blast or CityX, have used both for daily commutes, just pick one. They are both easy on the wallet and are a whole lot more fun than a huge bike daily use. The down side? You may find yourself taking a longer route to your destination. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm. |
