Hi,

I bought a used Race Exhaust for my 12R, and I'm having a bear of a time fitting it. At the rear, the outlet is hitting the Belt Tensioner pulley before the muffler body is snug up against the mount.

That will teach me to ASSume

I figured since they only list one race exhaust now, that it had always been that way. Looking at the box, it does say for XB9. Anyone want to buy a used Race Exhaust for an XB9?

been there, done that.
I also upgrade my belt to the 2004 and my Race Muffler on my XB9R hit the lower belt pulley.
I took a hammer to the outlet and fixed it.
than I bought a new muffler for a XB12R.
Seems the mufflers on the 12's are about an inch longer to clear the lower pulley.

Yes, it looks like I have two options:

1) Modify this exhaust slightly to clear the pulley.

2) eBay this one, and buy a Special Ops.

I'm leaning towards option two, as it retains the exhaust valve.

You shouldn't have to modify anything. My 2004 XB9 took the 03 race kit just fine and it has the Goodyear belt.

Starter, the problem is, Garp has a 12 and is trying to fit a 9 exhaust.

The 2004 9 and 12 are exactly the same down there.

I bought my XB9R in May of 2002
I got one of the first race mufflers. Aug 2002
That Race Muffler is one inch shorter than the newer Race Mufflers.
Garp has an older 9 race muffler
The rear mounts are the same on all XB's (at least I had no trouble fitting the newer longer race muffler on my XB9R)
The Pulley assy is lower on the larger belt XB's thats what makes the pulley hit the older shorter mufflers.
I now have a newer polished muffler on my XB

Mine did the same thing, Beat it with a hammer and be happy, it is louder than the longer muffler and gives you great mid and top power.
