hi all, i have been hanging out here for a while gathering all the great info. you guys are really amazing! i have a 9s and love it. i have been looking at aftermarket parts and it seems like the uk has the best selection. not sure if i want to order over seas... i was looking for a right side air scoop. anyone using this? does it help? where did you get it? thanks rudy | ||

Are there any issues with the right side scoop on an R vs. an S? and I thought I read about spacing on the 9 vs. 12. Any help would be great - This is the first mod I'm thinking of making. thx | ||

I got mine from Trojan Horse and have been very satisfied with it. Fit and finish are excellent. It was easy to paint and showed no defects at all. Mine is on my 9R. | ||

Americanrice, does yours like Bruces keep the fan off a lot more? Namely on the interstate. I find if I run on the interstate my fan will start to run while I'm moving. I'm hoping the scoop and stop this. Also, what paint did you use? | ||

To be honest, I really don't know if it reduced the usage of my fan or not. That is something that I will have to pay attention to now that you asked. I just painted it with silver spray paint (for plastic). It looks good and seems to be holding up very well. | ||

My fan has been dormant ever since install. Max temp has been about 75 and I have run at freeway speeds for up to 25 miles. So far, a rousing success. Well worth the dough. | ||

Brucelee, Have you tried stuffing a rag in the scoop to confirm the fan still works? Maybe a complete left vs. right vs. both comparison with infrared temp readings. Now that would be cool. Data points are always nice to have for reference. DBird | ||

Hard to imagine that the cooling fan decided to take a poweder the same day I put the scoop on. What are the chances of that? As I recall, my experience with the scoop is the same as several other posters here. Bottom line seems to be that air cooling actually does work better with, well ..... AIR! | ||

Just ordered a fiberglass right side air scoop from Trojan. We'll see if it helps in the 95-100 degree Texas summer. | ||

Ive got one ont he way, in PA. Nothing as hot and humid as any of you. I found part of the constant fan running culprit today though. Give the bike a once over before our trip to Americade tom. and found that I was way lower on oil than i had any idea. I just checked it not to long ago and it was fine. | ||

I plan on painting both scoops to match, using Bumper Black paint from O'Reilly's (also at Pep Boys, AutoZone, etc.). I've used it on the front grill on my car and it is really durable. I'll sand the plastic left side scoop smooth (I'll rough-up both) before painting. I'll take pics and report back on fitment and ease of install, too.  | ||

i took my right side scoop off for a few months, thought it would look cooler without. ran a few hundred miles, following wife to seward where it was very warm(79 degrees). started to wonder if it would run cooler with the scoop on? so i put the scoop back on last night. not sure if the right side scoop was there for noise reduction or cooling, or maybe some other reason? looked pretty useless at first. now i am not sure. anybody use a cylinder head temperature guage? that would sure answer the question. certainly dont want to make the determination based on the duty cycle of the cooling fan, people think the brand of motor oil will affect that, so it must be pretty random. | ||

Fullpower. Are you talking about the right side scoop that comes with the bike? If so, that is not what we are talking about. The scoop I added to my bike was from Trojan. The stock "scoop" on the right side is a useless little contraption that is now in the junk pile in my garage. Fundamentally, the Trojan scoop works like a charm and looks great too. I am amazed that Erik and the boys don't add this baby and leave the fan on for the rare times the scoop is not sufficient. | ||
