Guys,

When I first got my CityX, I picked up a pair of saddlebags at the dealer on the same day. I used them once and found out that they were not a match for my storage needs. I therefore put them up on Ebay and directly copied the following from the Buell website for the description

Attractive styling and custom fit design for all LightningŪ models.
Molded, UV, weather resistant polyester construction with waterproof zippers.
Rigid body and lid maintain shape empty or full.
Bag expands 2" for extra carrying capacity when needed.
Easy hook and loop mounting system.
Reflective trim for increased night time visibility.
Perfect for use with the Detachable Trunk Bag (P/N 91456-05Y) or Tail Bag for LightningŪ Models (P/N 91211-04Y) and Tank Bag (P/N 91213-04Y) for a complete touring package.
Fits '03-later XB9S, '04-later XB12S and '05XB12Scg and XB9SX models.

I just received word from the winning bidder that the bags he received do not expand the 2". I never noticed that part and never expanded the bags so I have no reason to dispute what he is saying. Now, because of my stupidity, or lack of verifying description vs product, I look like I pulled a bait and switch which I did not do.

Did Buell make a previous bag that fit XBs that did not expand 2" and my dealer just happened to have them in stock??

The ones I sold look identical to the ones on the website and did not have the extra slot or bracket that you get with the Firebolt model

Thanks

I'll have to check when I'm home tonight. I have these bags and don't recall that I ever expanded them, but I thought they had two zippers for this purpose. I'll look and let you know - unless someone else responds first...

Before you go dismissing the Firebolt bags, I do recall that there were two for the Firebolt. The new ones come with the bracket to hold them in place and are very stiff (formed).

There were some older ones that look very similar that only had the two straps across the top to hold them on. They would work for either the R or the S (I would guess). The quickest way to tell would be: How much did you pay for the bags?

If they were $229.95 then they're the old bags that don't expand. The ones for $159.95 expand.

I highly recommend PMing Clown and order any accessories needed for a Buell.
