check out the American Sports Bike web site. They are one of our sponsors, and are listed in the sponsor section. They have a variety of handle bar solutions. Don't hesitate to drop Al an email and tell him what you are looking for. Nice fellow.

There is a triple clamp available that puts the bars alittle higher and further back. It's not cheap though, between $300 and $400 bucks if i remember correctly.

Take a look at www.helibars.com They make a top triple clamp that moves the bars up and back. And they are cheap after you look at all the machine work that goes into them.

Here's a shot of them on my R. They help a lot.

Yup, that's them. Still not cheap price in my book. Maybe if i change my name to Rockefeller then $300 bucks would be nothing...

So Gowindward, can you post some more pics of the PDA mount. And where did you get it? It looks like it clamps on the ignition, is that right? Oh, actually it now looks like it comes of the inside bar end, I see, that's cool. So you could mount a GPS on the other bar end. Is there something else hiding behind that? Maybe a detector of some sort?
Who makes that?

The PDA is a Garmin IQue 3600 so it's a GPS unit too. The mounts are Ram brand (www.rammount.com) they make a piece that mounts to the Garmin cradle. It is bolted to the inside of the bar. The other side with the Escort is mounted to the mirror boss in the clutch lever mount. The detector mount is their Power Plate III. It uses magnets (very strong) and a steel plate with double sided tape bonded to the detector.

Ron, yes the ignition switch mounts up just like stock.

Steve, yes $300 is a lot of money. I'm just saying they put a lot of work into the clamp for $300. I would bet that a one off piece done at a local machine shop would cost 6 to 8 times that. So from that view the part is "cheap" or a bargain.

I picked up the Helibar upper clamp through Daves ($265). It works well, looks better than the original clamp and is quite a bit more comfortable. I was actually surprised at the price given that the other Helibar conversions trade for around the same money but are little more than a clamp and welded tube.

Hey, Bake--as I said Thursday, I put the Helibars tripleclamp on mine, raised the bars 1" and moved them back 1 1/2". Great for my short arms. Got 'em from Daves for $265 US plus shipping (I bring 'em across the line myself).

I showed the piece to a friend (Ducati rider) who owns a machine/fab shop, and he was very impressed with the quality of the machining--he thought it should cost more!

Anyway, maybe I'll make a run up your way this weekend, if the weather's good--maybe meet you in Nakusp or New Denver, you can take a look (lunch'll be on you ). PM me!

ya you got my attention there, thats why I posed the question here, I wanted to see some pic's.

Nice but a little spendy for just 6 days of ridding, suppose I will just suffer through it.... trade Penny for her Sportster every few hours.

Meanwhile, I am stuck here in the fishbowl this weekend (on call for work) will try out the new dirty bike later in the day.

Another source for higher handlebars is Spiegler's LSL handlebar kits. I used on for my GSXR1000 and find it much better than the clip-ons for around town (no sore neck from looking up at the traffic light and no sore wrists). They have a picture of a Firebolt with them on. Go to http://www.spieglerusa.com/prodimg/120BU04-mont.jpg to see the picture. If that doesn't pull it up go to http://www.spieglerusa.com/cfm/sbk.cfm and click on the picture. Kits include stainless steel brake cable extensions, making it a fairly good bargin for the money.
