Received frame pucks from Dave s a few days ago (THATS GOOD) but upon inspection of my goodies ieg the frame pucks I noticed that the left side frame puck paper backing was in place but not touching the sticky part (not good). So thinking it was still ok I went and got the old bats hair dryer LoL to warm things up and get things nice and sticky, after all that applied the puck and held pressure on the sob for what seemed about an hour, (fingers hurt now) and the puck at the pointy part or front did not stick I can pull back with little pressure. so my question for you guys is what should I do?? use spray adhesive or supper glue. called for dave but hes out till next tues so any suggestions thanks TY |

I installed them right its just the front part of the puck will not stick, the rest of the puck is fine just think wind could rip it off, the right side was fine and they are going to stay on untill i have to replace them (because of fall down) |

What is that tape? I think I might need to find some, 'cuz I was planning on painting the headlight bezels with frame paint. That means new tape, right? |

i don't know i you need new tape but i do know that the tape can be hard to find and expensive try Grainger or a bodyshop, if i was painting the buckets i would just mask them off real good i don't know if the stuff i have will withstand the heat of a headlight |

I'm doing the Hella 90mm headlight conversion, and they run cooler and don't focus sunlight, so I'm gonna try the graphite grey frame paint. I'm sick of chiseling bugs out of the plastic and it's turning white from cleaner. Good point 'bout the heat, tho. I bet Dave can get me some of whatever it is. |

I hate to Hijack the thread, but tell me more about the headlight conversion. My one real gripe about the bike is the weak headlight. |

There is no "outside of work" for me! The ones on my XB don't stick at the point either. Either way, if you are not happy I will replace them, no charge. |

Search for "Hella 90mm". There's a badwebber called XB9 who did a pile of research. This'll get you started... |

Nadz, be careful when you pull the bezels out, because if they are turning a little white, they are also a little brittle. When I took mine out I broke one at the thinnest place at the top. A little super glue and sanding before paint had it like new. I just used double sided foam tape, and it has held up just fine. Painted mine orange to match the letter on the airbox. |

The tape is a PSA tape (Pressure Sensitive Adhesive) and it should stick like nobody's business! Yours may possibly be compromised--you should be able to get it (sign shop? autobody supply?) and replace yourself--or get Daves to replace the pucks... I really like the pucks, they went on easily and seem to stick really good, and I think they look good too! |

Dave s said he would replace them if I would like to,at no extra cost to me but time. But if I could find that (psa) tape and the puck sticks (which I'm sure it will) then I'm a happy camper, just glad you guys have some good advice. And in no way am I disappointed in the dave s service the guy gave me a call in the middle of a battletrax event on a friday out side of workjust to make sure things were good. The right side went on perfect the left was a little iffy, I plan on using daves for more of my xb mods in the future near future as long as he can put up with my whiney a$$ thanks again guys!!!!! |

Edges on mine didn't stick either so I used Perniatex Black Silicone Adhesive Sealant from an auto parts store. Takes a night to set up and dry but mine have stayed in place and the black fills the little gaps you might have. |

Your lucky, I ordered some pucks, the RIGHT hand side puck didn't have any sticky stuff at all. Currently only have 1 puck on the bike (left) have been searching for some 3M Automotive double sided sticky stuff, but not an easy find. Here in Oz, the only stuff I found was double sided foam tape.. "Wot the F#ck" .. Still searching.. |

I did a lot of dry fitting and made reference alignment marks with a pencil. Peeled the paper off and lined up the marks. No problem. DBird |

I bought the pucks as well for my xb12r and dry fit them too. Needless to say the plastic itself was defective in the manner that it was not formed right. So I brought them back to the dealer and they reordered them. I look forward to the reinstall and appreciate the post about the black permatex seal. Thats good thinkin, lincoln! |

All I can say is the pucks do work!!!!! I dropped my bike in a parking lot doing about 5 mph and cold tire spit out from under my 12R leaving me to the high side. Needless to say the pucks did their job, did not even have to replace them, the dent in the puck popped out after a hot day, and the frame is a-o k!! |

S1lightning, Better replace the puck as the styrofoam is likley crushed and won't protect as much if there is a next time. Just like a helmet, one use per accident. |

My left side puck does not fit right either (The pointy part on the bottom will not stick). I doubt American Sportbike will be as happy to replace it as Daves :-( |

I don't think either DaveS or us are "happy" to replace bad parts. We'd certainly prefer all transactions to work out to everyone's satisfaction the first time around. That said, things happen, sometimes we make mistakes and we jump through every hoop to make those right at our expense. Other times, a vendor screws up and makes a mistake. We jump through MOST hoops to make those right, but at the end of the day, the vendor themselves have to step up to make the required corrections. It's tough being the middle man sometimes, and in the case of Buell OEM stuff, we are the second middle man since we must buy through our local dealer. But the relations are strong, and we talk directly to Buell as well. Bottom line, we will do all we can to make sure customers are satisfied. I've paid out of my pocket to correct many a mistake that wasn't mine in the name of keeping a customer happy. There are some limits on what we can do when the mistake isn't ours, but we won't hit those on a frame puck In the case of this frame puck issue, we've contacted Buell and they are on the case. I don't have any doubt that they will replace any pucks that aren't doing what they are supposed to. Still too soon to know exactly how it will happen, but I wouldn't stress highly, you'll be taken care of. In the mean time, please try to crash on the right side only Al |
