On Thursday I took delivery of my XB12S! Unfortunately I had traveling plans for the weekend since before, so I just drove it home and parked it. Since I came back I have been able to put a few miles on it and it feels GREAT, even though it is hard not to exceed break in limitations... Can't wait till I've passed 500 miles.

My plan is to drive it for 1000 miles and take it to the dealer, do the service, replace oil with synthetic and then get a new muffler and air filter. From what I understand here on the board it is not necessary to change the ECM on the XB12 when doing those mod's?

Once I've put some miles on it I am planning to hook up with the local BRAG chapter in the triad area.

Looking forward to seeing you all here on the board!

Nice!

If it were me, I would probably leave the exhaust all stock, or go for one of the modded exhausts that keeps the valve, Clown at Stone Mountian (see sponsors section) should be able to get you one, and I think Kevin from KDFab is doing them now as well.

Nice looking bike!

Going through what you are right now. I bought a 05 xb12r in blue last week.
The only performance mod I would do is the exhaust until you can afford the rest at one time. K&N plus exhaust spells lean fuel mixture just be careful.
I bought the D&D exhaust and hoping it'll be here today. I have the ecm and air filter on order. Just so you'll know, you have to have means to zero out the throttle position sensor (aka dealer @ 2.5 to 3hrs @ $65p/h)with new race ecm. While you're making your decisions think about warranty of the bike. Harley could void your warranty using race parts. Again be careful and ask questions to whom you bought it from. My dealer said that they would turn a blind eye if I had all parts installed at the local Harley where I bought it, but I don't trust them at their word since there is too much grey area around it. I'm doing everything myself as well as the computer work. Congrat on the bike, I love mine too.

Reepicheep, Roadrunnery, Daves,

Thanks!

Yes, maybe starting with a new exhaust, because of the sound, makes most sense. For now I will have enough power anyway.

It is hard to know which slip-on to choose though. I’ve read some of the threads discussing it here.

My exhaust needs to be louder than stock with a nice tone to it, preferably it should be much lighter. I also need to keep the stock muffler and since I do have neighbours it should not be too loud. It is hard to figure out which one is best…

Best to do some miles and settle in to a great bike. Set the bike up for you then do a search on mods/ exhuast and just have a LARGE SH**EATING grin every time you wind it up! Its fun just ride!

Enjoy, let me know if you want to take a Sunday morning ride in the near future. I'm only a few minutes away in Greensboro. Have seen only one other XB in town.

Twig, I am definitely in for the Sunday ride!
However I have to pass the 500-mile mark first. I am fairly new in this area so I need to find the good roads around here.

Are you BRAG member, if so do they ride frequently together here?

Everybody, thanks!
