Okay since I am still waiting for my bike to get fixed. (Latest is they lost the regulator) I have decided that from here on out I'm going to do my own servicing. Means I need to start buying some tools and getting a hold of a XB12R SM. Meanwhile I was looking at the 9SM. Is it that easy to change out the front brakes. Loosen screw in the middle, loosen upper retaining bolt, then lower, rotate the system and replace with new pads. This seems like a very short time to do. Question 1..how long did it take you to change out your front brake pads? (For those of you that do it.) Question 2 Clutch cable... How much and how long to remove and replace that? This seems like another simple job. Thanks!!!! |

I did the clutch cable on my 12S was not bad bout half an hour or less ...depending on weather or not you drop the cable retainer in side the primary cover ... but still really not that bad to do ... |

Changed my clutch cable the other day too, and yes I dropped the cable retainer inside the primary! Lucky me I have long fingers and fished it out no prob. Changing the cable out is really pretty easy. |

If you plan on leaving the oil in the primary when you change the cable I would suggest you put a block of wood under the kick stand so it's more straight up and down, that way none of the fluid will leak out. Or put it on a stand. |

Same as norcal...takes no more than 10 minutes. Unless you are installing the LRB gold pads, in which case you should factor in the "breakin" which is mandatory for these pads (10 really hard stops at 20mph followed by 10 really hard stops at 40mph, then allow to cool down to ambient temperature). These pads are awesome! |
