Unfortunately, I have to store my bike for probably 2 years, what is the best way to go about it? | ||

The most important thing to do would to be run or drain all the gas out of the tank so it does not go bad over time. I would also change the oil before doing the above as well.You might want to get the wheels off the ground so the tires don't flat spot as well. | ||

BTW if you leave the tank empty it will probably corrode. | ||

I believe the inside of the "frame" tank is coated with sealant. | ||

While the SAW is a more than capable light support weapon I thing for overall destructive potential you should use the .50 BMG. OOOOOOH YEEEEAAAAH! If you can't kill it, at least put lots of big holes in it.  Not too sure how easily a .50 would mount to a Buell  | ||

Well I had to store my bike when I went to Iraq. Here is what I did. I topped my tank off & added Sta-Bil to the fuel. Make sure your tires are inflated to proper PSI. I would say you'll have to replace your tires & belts upon return. Also change all your fluid levels. My CBR was fine when I got back. Good luck and keep your head down. | ||

Thunderbolt - a Bad Weather Airplane hahaha If I were you, I'd store the bike with all springs unloaded (ex- rear shock preload on 1) just like the arms room stores a rifle. Also, go get some dry lube (bicycle chain style) and hit all the screws, 'cuz nothing is truly stainless. And leave the bat disconnected or tranny in neutral- ya never know who's gonna go pushing buttons... Sorry to hijack the thread- good luck and keep your head down over thar. -NadZ | ||

Im on the east coast and would glady store and ride your bike on occasion to make sure it not only rides fine when you get back, but it gets the proper love. I am not sure that I can guarantee that it will NOT have a Trojan horse chain upgrade, and NOT be taken to a race track, but I can guarantee that both it and I will have big smiles while you are away and when you return  | ||

i had to store my M2 for almost two years... i put fresh oil in the bike, sta-bil in the tank, pulled the battery, put a cover on it, and walked away (that was the hard part)... when i came back, i took it to the dealer (without starting it!) and had them inspect it... i needed a new battery (wouldn't hold a charge), fresh oil, a fresh tank of gas, and i was off and riding! ...c | ||

Cool thanks, I like the option of brining it to the sand with me, but i dont think it will hold a ring mount. However i will take the load off the springs, add stabil, and take the tires off the ground. hopefully the batt-tender will do its job. |
