For those that have been having the following problems I have got them solved. At least in my situation the problem is solved and maybe it will help you out also. First one is those with the starting issues where you have to start and restart your bike 3-6 times before it will stay running on it's own ( I have the K & N Air Filter, Race ECM, and D&D pipe on 04 XB12R). I switched to Amsoil's 20W-50 Synthetic V Twin motorcycle Oil and this problem has all but gone away. If the bike does happen to die I will only have to restart it once at most. Problem solved, in my case at least. Second problem I was having was that my motorcycle would idle abnormally high when cruising around and then coming to a stop. Seemed to take forever to come back down in RPM's and that was when it even wanted to come down. Sometimes I would leave it in first and let the clutch out a little to bring it down to it's normal idle. Well found the header bolts had loosened up a bit. Tightened them down all the way and the problem has disappeared. I am not saying this will solve all of your problems for those of you that have been experiencing this but it is a start. I just figured if I could help at least one person out then this was a worth while post. If not sorry about chewing on the bandwidth. If this does help anyone with their problems I think you should post so others will know if this is a common problem and fix or if it's something else. John

Cool!
I have the same idle issues you speak of, rpm's stay up. I'll check my exhaust.

It's hard to see how changing oil would improve start ups. Did the start ups improve after the header bolts adjustment ?

Ditto on the idle.

Thanks.

Maybe that's where all my ear ringing helmet echo noise is coming from. Never would have thought to check the header bolts. Thanks Yohinan!

Nope these were done at two different times. My only guess on the oil issue is that I was under the impression that synthetic oils had better flow characteristics than dino oil. Is this wrong? If so then I have no idea why changing oil fixed my start up problems but I know for a fact that is what fixed it in my case. I have had this problem since installing the race kit/d&d. Since changing the oil the problem is gone. The header bolts were done about a week apart and had nothing to do with the start up issues. That is what fixed my idle issues. John
