I want to get my bar position closer to the R model for my XB9S for track days and aggressive rides. I have the Azonic CR Low bars, and they help a lot on the street, but not enough for the track.

I was checking out the Crossroads bars and they look great, but a bit pricey. I'm not saying they are not worth it, but I had to get new leathers (I'm too big for the ones I used to wear 10 years ago!) and a new helmet and now I have to get creative.

If anyone with an R wants to get the Heli system to raise their bars a little, I'd chip in so I can get the OEM parts.

Anyone got any other ideas? I'm definitely open to any suggestions.

I'm 6'3" and first tried the crossroads. With the stock 12S seat. I liked it very much for about 3 months, and then decided that it simply didn't stretch me out enough. So I went with a full S>R conversion.

I found the angle of the crossroads a bit uncomfortable at first. But I got used to it quickly. Funny thing is that I never really realized just how uncomfortable I was until I did the full switch. The bike feels perfect for me now.

But I think the seat position of the R has a great deal to do with it also. I'm not sure, but the street fighter seat may sit you more like an R. That, with the crossroads bars, may be the ticket for you. If you go this route, consider talking to Al at American Sport Bike about the bars that are more horizontal. The default configuration was a bit tough on my wrists.

Perhaps you like the stock 12S seat. I just found that it pushed me into the airbox more than I felt comfortable with.

My two cents.

Take a look at the Crossroads 54mm clip on bars. They cost a lot less than their XBS bar kit and can be mounted on top of the triple tree because the mounting collar is very slim. I used them on our project bike and they give a good sporty riding position. The only mods you need to do is to space the headlight/clock bracket out around 1" using alloy tube and longer bolts, and changing the clutch cable to one from an R model.

Trojan,

That looks like a great solution. Thanks for the idea.

Do the fly screen and gauges look funny spaced forward?

Nice! It looks like your new leathers are going to have some new bars to go with them. LOL

No worries, I too am a addict.

Damn, I looked at the clip-ons and they are $210, add in a clutch cable and I'm back up to the $250 range.

That is do-able in a few months, but not today.

The flyscreen and guages look just right even though they are spaced forward slightly. If you didn't have a stock bike to comparte to you woudn't even notice the difference. This isn't the clearest of pictures but you can see it doesn't look awkward at all.

Matt (Trojan)-

Did you have to raise the forks in the triple trees at all to get the clip-ons to work?

It isn't strictly necessary to raise the forks through the yokes to fit the clip ons, although I did by around 2mm just to make the look better.
