Christmas Day. Doing 90 in a 55. Pass a cop. Take a right on the next road, run like hell. See Gumball light up behind me even though I've made a couple sharp turns. Decide to stop rather than run. Turn off bike. Take off helmet. Gorgeous 5 ft blond mini-cop walks up, says, "Damn, I wished you was gonna run for it honey. It's been a boring day." Let me off without even a warning.

Good on ya, Bro. Been trying for several years myself. Bureaucrats here in Socal are retarded with money, so it seems that everytime I submit a package it coincides with a hiring freeze. But again, Congrats. Yes! One man can make a difference!

Not really a bad story, but one involving the police just the same.

The other day I'm on my way home from work and surprise, surprise. Typical Socal gridlock, so I'm splitting lanes when I hear a siren right behind me. Look in my mirror and there is a CHP motorcycle right behind me with lights on. I find an opening in the traffic to my right and move over thinking I'm getting pulled over. He goes right on by with a Harley Fatboy right on his 6. I quickly pull out behind the Fatboy and get a police escort for the next 12 miles as his siren, lights and horn create about a 5 foot gap between lanes 1&2. Abuse of power? Yes, but that's the fastest I've ever lane split. About 55mph.

Don't be hard on us little bikers, now that you have
that shiny badge, please.

The last time I got stopped was for a 70 in a 55.
I wanted to say so bad, and I guess you've
never ran 70 thru here.

Sat in a parking lot checking out the college trim and a motocross bike goes by with the rider only having one leg and doing a wheelie. I thought damn I've never seen a bike modified for the physically challenged with one leg so I get up on his butt to my realization he's riding side saddle on a suzuki 400 dual purpose motocross bike. I flick the lights on and put the spot light on him and I see his plate isn't attached to his bike either instead it's on his backpack that he's wearing. Now I'm thinking this guy is a nut job. To my dismay he turns @ and hits it. Now it's game time at 11:30 p.m. with the streets clear and it's me and him zig zagging around. After a 15 min. chase in the car and him dustin my butt it was over. So he thought. I went to the local dealership and talked to the owner and found out it was one of his employees and he was bragging all day about outrunning the po-po. His bike was impounded, 6 tickets issued and locked up for the night not too mention he was driving on a revoked license w/no insurance. I guess I got the last laugh the following day!

As a matter of fact, you are saving it. If this turned into a cop bashing fest, the whole thread would have been nuked in short order.

If it goes as it is, reasonably respectful and funny and entertaining stories from all walks of life, it will be enjoyable (and won't vanish)...

About a month ago, left my house to go to meet the wife for dinner in town. Entered the freeway and noticed a Harris County Sheriff on the left side shoulder of the highway, with lights on - thought he had just pulled someone over and hadn't finished paperwork yet. As I pass him, I'm in the right most lane - he pulls across 3 lanes to get behind me and catches up after about 1/4 mile - I was going the speed limit, didn't speed at all. He gets right behind me and I pull over. He then approaches me cautiously with hand on gun and asks me to get off the bike - the then pushes me against the police car and cuffs me. Next thing I know I'm in the back of the car and see several sport bikes passing by quickly. So, I start to get what's happening - I've been mistaken for being part of this group they are probably chasing - just because I'm also riding a sporty motorcycle. Well it gets better, one of the officers, from the pursuing agencies, walks to the car where I am and puts his fist in my face - he then threatens me "I'll punch you in your mother f4ck'n head if you don't tell me who your buddy is" he then says "your buddy tried to run my partner off the road". After he says this, he pulls a few punches to my face, nearly hitting me. I protest that I don't know anything about this and that I've just left my house a quarter mile away. He says I'm lying, even though he has my license with my address near by.

Eventually they figured out that I wasn't part of the "all black" bike gang that they had been chasing for 35 miles and lets me out. I demand to know who the officer was who threatened me, then one other officer tells me that he's going to find a witness to press charges against me, even after they take the cuffs off me and say I'm free to go - his intimidation tactic worked in this case because the last thing I wanted to be was beaten by a mob of adrenaline hyped up Texas cops - so I split.

Ever since it happened, it makes me think harder when I hear stories about cops beating suspects and profiling people. Some of my friends are cops and they say I should have filed a complaint, but I'm worried about retaliation.

Congratulations Got1 I'm a criminal justice major and hope to get one within the next few years. A couple of my teachers who were older police officers had sportbikes, one of 'em was applying to be police chief somewhere, but he only rides cruisers now but had GSXRs and TLRs in the past. When I bought my SV650S I rode 3 days (weekend) without a license plate and got pulled over twice for not having a plate, both times the cop was a sportbiker and gave me a verbal warning, I told the second guy about the first guy the other day so he gave me a written warning..hey I'll take that no problem.

Have you guys seen this one yet? Pretty damn funny, the story lies within the first and sixth post, the rest are just a bonus.

"NWS" IF you care about foul language (apparently some do?)

Congrats Carlos, I tried that 15 years ago, but at the time, didn't know how to lie to the oral boards.

You are not going to stop a Buell on traffic violations are you?

I was cruising on the highway home from some twisties, doing 80 in a 50, and passed an accident. I locked eyes with the NHP at the scene, but didn't think anything of it until I see flashing red and blues coming the other way. I figured it's not running if they aren't behind you, so I lit that little buell up, 96 until I got to the next exit, pulled off and went into an apartment complex (luckily someone was leaving so I just turned in that way through the gate) cruised to the farthest back corner and tucked in between a big dodge and the cinder block walls. Hung tight there, checked my voice mail on my phone and gave the bike a once or thrice going over visually since I hadn't done it in a while, then cruised back to my house taking side streets. Last thing I saw of that nevada highway patrol was him trying to flip a bitch...luckily it was sunday morning in a pretty much abandoned part of town, so there wasn't much traffic.

While stopped at a red light, some little snot and his girlfriend in a brand new sports car pulls alongside and promptly stars gunning his engine. I look over and let my D&D respond in kind. I thought to myself , “Sure pal, I have no problem embarrassing you in front of your girlfriend”. Light turns green and I UNLEASH THE FURY! But alas I didn’t even get through the intersection before I saw the red and blue flashers behind me. Dumb- that I am I never looked behind me before attempting my downtown land speed record. (Yes he was right behind me the whole time!) I dutifully pulled over and accepted the fact that I was an idiot who deserved the ticket I was about to get. To my surprise the officer was smiling and didn’t even have his ticket book in his hand. I started to pull out my wallet to get my license and he just waved it off. “Don’t worry I know what it‘s like on one of those babies so I‘m not giving you a ticket, but you did that right in front of me man, I had to pull you over.” “ Just promise me you wont do that around here again and I’ll cut you loose.” How cool was that! Goes to show that it takes all kinds. Needless to say I behave in his area.

Joele, you need join the 100 club, same goes for all of you in the Houston area. Here's the deal, it's a charity for law enforcement and firefighters in Houston. When one is injured or killed, the club steps up to take care of the family.

It costs $100 a year and in return they give you a nice little sticker (too large for bikes) and an ID card. I have about three years worth of stickers on my Suburban and roll through Houston like the Germans through Paris. I've been stopped on my bike once and when asked to produce the DL, I also handed over the ID card. Upon doing so, I was asked very politly to slow down and have a nice day.

I don't get tickets anymore and it's a great cause. Look them up on the web.

I was on my way to meet friends at about 5:30 AM on a local highway (with occasional stoplights). There was slow traffic in the right lane, I was in the left going maybe 5 over the speed limit.

We came up to a stop light, nobody was in front of me, two cars already slowing for a redlight in the right lane. I was slowing down also, but needed to get in front of the cars in the right lane to get to the onramp for I-71.

The stop light is an intersection that is *right* in the front yard of our local state highway patrol office. I was probably 100 yards from their front door.

So anyway, without really realizing it, I just happened to be at that sweet spot in the RPM range and after downshifting through the gears (in first) when the light went green. I needed to beat the car on my right, so I just whacked the throttle, doing a nice medium wheelie right there in front of the Trooper office. It suprised me more then anyone... I don't generally do wheelies on purpose unless I am on the dirt.

Fortunately, nobody saw it, or if they did, choose not to do anything about it. I would have deserved it if they did, and would hope we both would have had a good laugh about it.

Joele, you need join the 100 club

I already contribute to the law enforcement community by volunteering my time and skills to an agency in town.

I take issue with nearly being beaten and then being intimidated in to letting it go.

Since I have lived in California, I have been pulled over 12 times in 8 1/2 years. I received 2 tickets out of that. Both times I was well in excess of 100 mph. Both times the tickets I received were for less than 15 over, I did traffic school, and therefore they didn't go on my record.

Story #1..... A few years back I went to the mall... It's the silly season (Christmas), so I park my Harley in the white stripes next to the handicap parking spot as close to the curb as possible and totally not in the way.... I come out with the girl I was seeing, just in time to see the nice officer on horseback starting to write the ticket.... I approach and claim the bike as mine.... I am waiting for the right time to spring the "hey I am a cop too"... The officer asks a question and the moment presents itself for me to ease into it, but just as I begin to speak the girl breaks in and it blows my opportunity.... $115 later and she asks "why didn't you tell him you were a cop?"... I told her I was about to, but you blew that chance.... lol... Even cops get tickets ....lol

Story #2... I am driving in my marked patol vehicle (a full size tahoe) when I come around the bend to see a sportbiker blowing by a bus on a double yellow.... I turn on him and he is gone.... I tried for 4 miles to catch him, but only caught several glimpsess of him until we got into town... As I was about to call it off, I saw him almost lost it at the stop sign about 1/2 mile up... He turns left and I catch him at the traffic light where he decides to pull over resulting in 1 careless driving ticket, 8 or so warnings and a good &$$ chewing ...lol
