Fell off my mountain bike yesterday while trying to get an insect from behind my glasses. Must've hit a rock and the bars just slammed sideways and HOLY SH*T I'm airborne ! Landed on my right hip/elbow, rolled a few times on dirt and loose rocks then stopped. I got up and after checking basic limb movement I carried on home.

This morning I felt so beat up - gravel rash on lower leg, hip and lower arm, stiff neck and bruising.

You know how it is when you're riding your Buell and you haven't crashed for a while - this was my wake-up call. Don't fall off...it really sucks !

Glad you're OK. I did something similar on a mini bike when I was about 12 years old. Was riding down a dirt road way back in the woods near home, met a guy walking, took one hand off the bars to wave to him, front wheel hit a limb or hole or something, and the bars went sideways. I went airborn, landed on my back about 10 feet away. The guy I had waved to just about freaked. Came over and helped me up, asked me if I was OK, and looked at me like I was completely crazy. I said I was fine, brushed myself off, and looked at the bike. It was sitting upside down balanced on the handlebars and seat and was still running! (3 HP C.A.T. minibike). I turned it over, hopped on, and road off.

Man, I shudder to think how I'd feel if I did something like that now. Hopefully all those minibike wrecks when I was a kid have taught me how to avoid wrecks as an adult!

Our rule is it's not mountain biking unless you bleed: )
