I finnaly got my buell! xb12r, I put about 300 miles on it this morning, trying to adhere to break in rules as best as I could. I noticed that my fan stayed on for most of the ride(back at about 60 mph)and toward the end of the ride it was struggling to idle at about 600 rpm's. Is this normal? |

Whoa...600 is __WAY__ too low...bump that up to about 1000(turn allen screw under frame on right front with bike on stand and looking back at seat). Also for break in the bike will run hotter during the first 1000 miles or so. If it is warm where you are in VA the fan may run a lot even on the freeway. The parts need to get to know their neighbors before they play nice...then things will work better and the bike should run a little cooler (but then summer is upon us too). In VA I would expect the fan to run a lot in traffic and less than 60 MPH traffic...the 12R is a big motor in a small space. |

For your first oil change (1000 miles) I recommend switching to Mobil 1 15/50 for the engine and Mobil 1 75/90 gear oil for the trans. Shifting will be improved BIG TIME!! Also, the engine oil will help it run cooler. (IMHO) Also, bump up the idle. Running way to low. |

Buy a right side air scoop and say goodbye to your fan coming on! Looks good too! Ditto on the Mobil 1 oil. |
