Hey guys my good friend is moving tords purchasing the new truimph speed tripple. He has the blues because when we go riding I kick his butt on my buell xb12s but now he plans to rub my face in the dirt with this new bike. what do you guys think? Should I give nallin a call and say biuld me an engine that will overcome the speed tripples performance or should I try and forget about it? We have a riding group of about twelve to fifteen riders and growing from all walks of life but my buell dominates when it comes to style, sound performance, and interest. This speed tripple has me a little worried and might force me to move to aprillies bikes, any suggestions, thanks. JCWise.

i will be the first to stand up for the triple. owned them, loved them and recently "borrowed" a new 05 from a dealership i worked at for years. i had it for a few weeks. as much as i love my buell i dont think there is anything you can do to the engine to match the triple. cornering is going to come down to rider skill as the new 05 is right there with the buell in my opinion. do i love my buell? yes. will i get rid of it? no. will i buy a new speed triple? hmmm....we'll see what i show up at the rides and bike nights...im always full of surprises.

I don't like the headlights on the new speed triple, they look HUGE compared to the XB Lightning's headlights. I know the XB Lightning's headlights are pretty damn small but still, in all the pictures I've seen (yet to see one in person) those lights just jolt out, dash may stick out a bit too far for my liking too. Gotta head down to the local triumph dealer sometime...

July is coming. Other wise a K1200S should wipe his butt.

Rode one at a Triumph Demo day and it kicks a$$. I liked it a lot but it is also different than a Buell. It had some incredable acceleration. Of course the fastest bike I've ridden up to that point is my 03 XB9R.

oh yes. speed triple gives me wood, oh yes, i will own a speed triple, right after i get a ducati S2R, and a street rod. speed triple is on the short list of 3 bikes that i must acquire.
something about 3rd gear roll on wheelies on a stock naked bike that just makes you WANT.

I love the new speed triple and the price isn`t too bad either. They look badass and have the power to back it up.

Also, check out the Aprilia Tuono. Maybe the fastest production v-twin naked bike under $13k? Super HP and handling, too bad the nearest dealership is 2.5 hours from me. This makes a difference in warranty service.

I just read the writeup on the Speed triple. It is one sweet bike but then again so is your Buell. I wouldnt worry about it. Just be happy that the both of you will have unique bikes that set you apart from the masses.

I had a real hard time deciding between the Duc Monster, Speed Trip, and XB9SX. All are comparable in displacement and nakedness. The Ducati and Triumph will have you paying out the A$$ for service (assuming you can find someone to work on the damn things). I am of the opinion that the City has a much larger "wow" factor than the others.

I had a Trip last year, the wife still has one. I loved mine but after 17 years on a Big Twin, I missed the power delivery feel and (NO CHAIN!) so it had to go.
The Trip is like a japper with power where you need it and spades full of character. The handling-OOOOH YEAH!!!
The bike is faultless and will ruin your license. But I sold it for a Buell. And I'm still happy.
