Stacker-Last week my battery died so I charged it and it died again. I had the battery tested and it ws good. I ran it one more time and could smell the great smell of burnt electrical and gear oil. Took the primary chain inspection cover off and couln't even stand the smell.

Izz-regulator checked good Thanks

Charlieboy-7700miles. It took about four hours because my neighbor kept getting me a beer every 10 min. and my brother wanted help putting his exhaust on. Probaly could do it in less time if your focused. Also had to make a sprocket locking link. Get a service manual and it tells you everything, just need the tools. I put mine on the bike lift so it's about two feet off the ground that makes things alot easier.

Shane... LOL.

Thanks for that datapoint. I had a blown stator, did all the diagnosis, replaced the stator, and the Cyclone *still* would not charge. Then repeated tests, which showed the blown VR clear as can be.

I thought I was going nuts, that VR tested fine before I tore into the stator. Good to know that I was not freaking out and replaced two parts when only one was broken...

FYI you can get them rewound for bugger all money. Had the stator for my GPZ250 rewound and it cost AUD$45 2 year ago. Considering the genuine part was $280 I laughed at the dealer when they asked if I'd like new or rewound.

I think I paid $120 for the stator.

Jeremy, is that cycle lift one of those small craftsman ones and if so will it work with the stock exhaust?

It will work if you make a cradle with steel or wood to fit the round bottom of the can. Also put some padding on it to not scratch the can. I have a d&d so it's kinda flat on the bottom and i just throw a tie down strap over it.
