I was having some hestation issues durring lighter throttle application so i decided to try tweeking my idle up a little bit it was at 1000 now its more where it should be at about 1150 or so. But now sometimes if i pull in the clutch before comming to a stop the rpms will hang at about 2000 rpm. They will stay there until i put a slight load on the drivetrain, then they will drop to normal. Anyone have any ideas what it could be, the hanging idle goes away if i turn the idle back down, but then the hesitation comes back.

Your idle is too high. Your tach merely gives you a general range. You need to use a more accurate tach or the like and you will see the accurate reading. Also you need to set the idle with the engine fully warmed up.

The idle was set while fully warmed up. i guess ill try pulling it down just a little bit. Unfortunatly i dont have anything i can use that is more accurate.

I remember using for cars, a relatively cheap tach/timer that attaches to your ignition coil. Anyone know what I'm talking about. If that's still available, it can give a fairly accurate reading of your engine rpm.

why don't they do that set up from the factory if it's more accurate? I know the tach on my old '01 Yamaha YZF600R would have a slight delay in it, but my friends Honda CBR600 F4i and Yamaha R1 seemed to have very little or no delay (compared to my YZF) with their tachs.

I think my bike just likes to play games with me, rode around all night 2 nights ago and at no point did it hang, slowed a little bit as it came past 2k but nothing like what it was doin.

To low idle [900 to 1000 rpm] causes 2nd try cold starts.I had to adjust 9SX idle up, turned it up to 1100 rpm after fully warmed [using the bikes tach]. Idle did the hang up at 2000 rpm, ignored it and rode.Stopped hanging up by end of day hasnt done it since[800 miles ago] No 2nd attempt restarts needed since [ w/ cold motor]
