I just received my air box conversion kit from American Sport Bike.
It is the shiznik, very nice product. The lid is fiberglass and very
nicely made. I was going to make some out of billet aluminum
but I think this is the way to go.

Thanks AL

No, Thank YOU, Mike.

You should have received an email from me last night as well. I've added a new safety notice to the instruction sheet that wasn't there on any shipped prior to yesterday, and sent a notice out to all previous purchasers.

It is all too easy without the airbox cover to have the tank overflow line terminate in the airbox. 49 state models without the charcoal canister have a long overflow line and it wouldn't be likely that someone would terminate it there. But CA bikes with the charcoal canister vapor recovery system have short overflow lines, and if the canister has been removed, it is all too easy to have that line end in the airbox area. If gasoline overflow puddles in there, and you get a big intake backfire, KABOOM!

So, not only for purchasers of the American Sport Bike airbox eliminator, but ALL folks that have done something that eliminates the top airbox cover, please make sure your overflow line is properly routed away from the airbox.

Note: no nasty event occurred to spawn this notice. I just happened to have a bit of an overflow over the weekend (cold gas, hot engine, close proximity, = lots of gas expansion) and the thought occurred to me that someone could make this mistake, thus the Safety Notice.
