Has anyone found a good way to lock their helmet to the bike?

Helmet on passenger peg. Cable style gun lock run thru visor and thru "V" in peg bracket. Locks come free with most pistols or from your local PD, otherwise about $9 at a sporting goods store.

Um, how about the helmet lock cable included in your tool kit? Loop it through your D-ring and capture it with the seat latch.

I was wondering what that invisible and nontangeable thing in my tool kit was. I don't think that thingy came with the 03 XB9S. I wonder what the part # is?

It's not the best looking thing, but I got a universal helmet lock from harley that you can mount on the passenger peg brackets. It's made to go on a tube style frame, but fits just fine and works great. Unfortunately it's chrome, but it's not so big as to be really noticeable. Not sure about the part number, but I just went in and harassed the parts guy for about 10 minutes and he found it.

My 05 12Scg came with that helmet cable in the tool pouch. I don't know if I'd use it. A good pair of wire cutters would probably snip through it like string. I'm waiting on a pair of barenders. Bar ends that serve as bar weights & provide a lockable place to put your lid.

I don't think any of the 03's came with the cable in the tool kit, everyone I know with an 03 in this area didn't get one, the only person I know that has one has an 05 cityx.

A Helmet Guardian works great - mounts behind your license plate and is secure. I've had four helmets locked to my bike at one time. They work great and if you order more than one you can have them keyed alike.

(and no, that's not my bike)

I have a helmet guardian just like the one pictured above. I cut it down to just fit a reg size motorcycle plate. It looked pretty good on my 9S. I don't have any pics on my puter since it crashed but if someone wants it I can take pic of it for them if they want me to. Just pm me for it.

I have an 03. I used a picture hook bolted to the trunk. When I put the pillon on, it traps the D-ring. There's a thread with pics here where I got the idea...

I hang my helmet on the right end of the handlebar. I have a small padlock that I use to lock the d-ring to the throttle cables. I guess it would suck if somebody wanted my helmet anough to cut the cables, but I guess without a helmet, I wouldn't be riding home anyway...

Will the mirror hanger solution still work with the back seat cowl?

It looks like it would be really close.

Yes it works with the cowl, it is close but does not rubb against it. It looks great with it on to.

Do your D-rings scratch the tail surface?

I too used the hanger, but a picture hook... Works great with or without pillon cowl and no damage to bike...

I printed off SAR's pictures and headed up to my Dad's shop. We fabricated and mounted a helmet hook which works great except that my helmet tends to push down on the turn signal but that is easily alleviated by rotating my helmet a little bit. I plan on making another one for the other side soon for the GF. Thanks for the info I really appreciate it!

I have the Sardawg helmet lock and it works great. Very handy and easy to install. I've used it for awhile now. Thanks for thinking of it.
