it was a mix of surprise, scared & WOW! these things DO have torque! thankfully i kept it together for that brief moment!! now i definitely ride w/ a firm hand! : )

finally i see the point of my buell xb12r!!

A few mods and she'll be standing up when
you grab second. Sometimes I catch a little
air grabbing third.

I can usually get all three gears on my XB9 when I want to...have gotten a fourth gear wheelie going up a bridge, of all things...was totally unexpected. I treat the throttle with respect, although like yesterday I wanted to show off and caught air in the first three gears...of course got the "looks cool" comments afterwards

The XBs love to wheelie. I can't help myself, I do it every chance I get which is almost all the time. I'm really trolling for a ticket. At 55 I ought to know better....

"I'm really trolling for a ticket. At 55 I ought to know better..."

NO , I've been pulled 3 times in the last two months. The last was when I had been on the road for 8 days and was headed home. I blew by a cop at about 115 and never saw him. All stops resulted in a stern warning which I have taken to heart. Yesterday I picked up an 03 BMW R1200CLC luxury tourer. 60 hp and 750 lbs. That ought to slow me down. Rode it 600 miles yesterday. Cruise set, CD blasting. Cool ride in its own way. Cruises highway speeds easy. My Buell is looking a little pissed.}

My XB9r is a stoppie fiend.....I stood it on it's nose coming home from the track last week....unfortunately I didn't see the cop (lousy mirrors) but he saw me. He did me for illegal licence plate and worn rear tyre aswell as for being an all round idiot......couldn't argue... but it was almost worth it.

Trolling for a ticket? You will all like this one!
Leaving my inlaws the other day, and trying to get a rise out of my fatherinlaw I pulled it up close to vertical through 3 gears up a hill, well didn't see the Sherif coming directly at me with his lights on!!! Lucky he was responding to another call and he didn't stop me.But I live in a small town and he stoped by later that afternoon with a stearn warning "act yur age"
I said yes sir to the 20 some year old officer, remembering that I have 3 kids a wife and a heck of alot of bills!!

LOL Xb12! I love the Ohio small town experience. Equally likely scenarios include the cop going and squealing on you to your Dad, your Mom, or your Pastor, even if you are 50 years old : )

XB12 - Great story.

Hogs - The young cops will pull us old timers some slack occasionally. I had some CIBI lights up on a light bar on my old Wrangler. You know the kind that are for "off road use only" a bazillion candlepower and will fry the retinas on anybody coming the other way. (I must admit I took some sadistic pleasure in burning cars that annoyed me).

I got pulled over at least 3 times with them on and the young cops let me go with a warning. I'm sure it was because I'm not a teenager any more.

Doesn't always work......I pulled my helmet straight off after my stoppie incident and the cop took one look and said "your old enough to have much more sense...you've got no excuse" and booked me!!

Hey Indy_bueller,

Thats easy just shift that puppy into second at the red line and hold on...Orrrrrrr just go 5-10 mph let off gas and then hit the gas watch the stars,(be careful) only difference on the 12 I don`t have to bounce just roll on the gas...

Indy, at 4500 chop the throttle, when the suspension compresses and starts to rebound, nail the throttle.
It still kind of sucks because you hit the rev limiter really quickly, but you can go for a few seconds before that happens.
If you sit on the passenger seat you can do the same thing at 3500 and ride it longer, but control is not as good.
